Long Beach Arena is one of the magnificent venues of Long Beach, California.  Long Beach Arena, which is a drum-shaped arena, is part of the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.  Through the years, the lucrative selling of Long Beach Arena tickets proved that Long Beach Arena is a great place for recreation and entertainment.   The Long Beach Arena is a sports stadium that provides an audience seating capacity of 13,609 for basketball and 11,200 for hockey.  Long Beach Arena is also a great place for concerts and special events.  The venue with a huge stage also has a maximum seating capacity of 13,500.  In addition to this, the capacity of the concert seats, depending on the concert setup, may also be 4,550 and 9,200.

The Long Beach Arena was professionally constructed with unique arts and skills.  The outside wall of the arena was designed with a mural of the notable artist, Wyland.  The mural of the Long Beach Arena, known as the Planet Oceanand covering 122,000 sq. ft., is considered as the largest mural in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records.

The Long Beach Arena is home to the Long Beach Ice Dogs, which is an East Coast Hockey League team that was founded in 1993.  The venue provides fun and exciting games that are much awaited by patrons as well as supporters.

Aside from Long Beach Arena, the Long Beach Convention Center also features exhibition halls, ballrooms, theaters and meeting rooms.  The area has three exhibition halls; the Exhibition Hall A, which has a space of 91,000 sq. ft., Exhibition B with 57,000 sq. ft., and Exhibition C which has a space of 76,000 sq. ft.  The exhibition hall is a great venue for special events, tradeshows, consumer shows as well as conventions.   The entertainment complex has 34 meeting rooms and a Grand Ballroom.  The theaters consist of Center Theater and Terrace Theater.  The Center Theater has a seating capacity of 825 seats with wheelchair spaces.  The Terrace Theater, however, is a full production theater with a seating capacity of 3,051 seats.  The Terrace Theater also provides wheelchair spaces and assistive listening systems for the hearing-impaired customers.

Long Beach Arena Brief History

The Long Beach Arena as part of the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center was built in the year 1962.  The entertainment complex was built on the location of the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium.  The Long Beach Arena was considered as the first construction to be completed in the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. 

On October 14, 1967, the expansion teams, Los Angeles Kings as well as Philadelphia Flyers, played in the Long Beach Arena, which was considered as the venue of the first National Hockey League game involving an expansion team.  The Long Beach Arena successfully hosted the volleyball events of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. 

The renowned environmental artist Wyland, created the Long Beach Arena murals using an estimated of 7,000 gallons of paint.  Planet Oceanwas dedicated on July 9, 1992.  The mural portrays life-size whales and sea mammals. 

Furthermore, from 1989 to 1993, Long Beach Arena hosted the Big West Conference men’s basketball tournament.  Through the years, the entertainment complex has been hosting a variety of concerts, entertainment and sports events, theatre (performing arts) as well as corporate conventions.  The Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center serves as the sports and cultural showpiece of the remarkable city of Long Beach.
