Las Vegas Bellagio Hotel and Bellagio O Tickets Information

We already had an Egyptian pyramid, an Arthurian castle, a Roman palace and a British man-of-war. And then there was Paris, Venice, and New York New York Las Vegas. But it was so obvious: what Las Vegas really needed was an Italian beach resort on an artificial lake in the desert. Bellagio spreads its massive pair of wings opposite Bally's. The Bellagio hotel draws its inspiration from the Italian city of the same name, overlooking breathtak­ ing Lake Como. The property on the Las Vegas Strip didn't have a lake-this is the desert, after all, and the former home of the very dry Dunes Hotel no less-and so a nine-acre pond had to be created.

It's sometimes very difficult to justify the massive amounts of money spent on some of the hotels and casinos in Las Vegas; in the case of Las Vegas Bellagio, though, at least the excess is evident. You can start with the $30 million "choreographed water ballet on the lake" outside the Bellagio hotel. The Bellagio show, inspired by the fabulous light and fountain pro­ductions once popular in Europe, includes 1,175 water jet heads that can shoot water 160 feet into the air, 6,200 light fixtures and a high-tech audio system. It is presented every fifteen minutes for most of the day.

Another $70 million went into Cirque O, from Cirque du Soleil, the second by that group in Las Vegas (Mystere continues at the nearby Treasure Island Resort.) The troupe performs in and above a large body of water within the 1,800-seat the­ ater, with an exterior design similar to the Paris Opera House. I haven't the slightest idea how Paris got into this mix, although Cirque du Soleil is from French Canada, which is nowhere near Lake Como. The Bellagio O show is presented twice nightly, except Wednesday and Thursday. Bellagio O Tickets show are available three months in advance for hotel guests and two months ahead for day visitors.

The 3,000 guest rooms and suites of Bellagio Hotel Las Vegas are decorated with antiques and art char­ acteristic of southern Europe, and there's an extensive use of imported marble throughout. An enormous, tiled swimming pool provides relief from the Las Vegas summer heat. The walls of the Bellagio restaurants and public areas include original art by Claude Monet, Edouard Manet, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, and other Impressionist masters. The ultra-luxe Via Bellagio shopping street, set in an elegant Crystal Palace-like glass arcade, features stores that include Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Gucci, Hermes, Fred Leighton, Moschino, Prada, and Tiffany & Co.

The bellmen out front are adorned with top hats; the concierge staff is out­ fitted in waist coats. The registration desk is set within a living fantasy garden that changes with the seasons, home to real and robotic butterflies, birds, plants, and smells. The public areas of the Bellagio Hotel are an elegant wash of white and gold, with flowers-real and fanciful-at every turn, including a fabulous ceiling of 1,600 blown glass flowers by artist Dale Chihuly. The Conservatory is a spectacular private botan­ ical garden; plantings are changed four to five times each year to celebrate sea­sons and holidays. In mid-2000, soon after the acquisition of the Mirage by MGM Grand, Inc., eleven of the treasures of the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art were sold off for a total of $124 million. Three of the pieces went to former owner Stephen Wynn. The gallery was closed, but is expected to reopen to display exhibits from major museums and art institutions. The Bellagio Hotel and Casino held on to the collection on display at two of its finest restau­rants, Picasso and Renoi, where diners are seated among works by the artists named on the front door. There is, of course, a huge casino with about 100 table games and 2,500 slot machines. Included is an elaborate sports and race book with a huge video screen on the wall; most tables also have private televisions.

Las Vegas Bellagio Hotel features ten specialty restaurants, including a Las Vegas version of the famed New York French restaurant Le Cirque, and Osteria del Circo, a Northern Italian eatery; both were created by the Maccioni family. Le Cirque, overlooking the lake at the Bellagio hotel, is among the more formal eateries with jacket and tie required for men. Specialties include pauprette de loup-de-mer (black sea bass in crispy potatoes) and degustation ct'agrieau ( Colorado lamb filet with baked cranberry beans) . There are just eighty seats, and preference goes to high rollers. Your best bet is to seek an early reservation at the Bellagio to be able to buy cheap Bellagio O Tickets (cirque O Tickets) and other amazing shows in Las Vegas. Osteria del Circo features homestyle Tuscan food, complemented by a wine cellar that offers more than 500 selections from around the world. Entrees prices varies; many can also be ordered as smaller-portion appetizers if you want to create your own sampler. Olives is a Las Vegas extension of the well-known Mediterranean restaurant of the same name in Boston. It is located within the Via Bellagio shopping arcade. Open Sunday to Thursday, 11 A.M. to midnight; Friday to Saturday, 11 A.M. to 1 A.M. Prime is a luxury steakhouse, styled like a 1930s chophouse and speakeasy. Entrees on the visit included veal chops, spiced rack of lamb, and tuna steak with lemon confit.

Jasmine is a gourmet Chinese Bellagio restaurant with European influences, deco­ rated with authentic and replicated Chinese art. The interior design is almost French in style. Menu offerings include Imperial Peking duck, Chinoise scallops, and more ordinary dishes such as Moo Shu Pork. Jasmine also offers a tasting menu priced at about $70 per person, with a minimum of two at a table. On a recent visit, the menu included Imperial minced squab, honey-glazed barbecued baby back ribs, Fa Dew clam soup, Maine lobster in ginger and scallion, wok-seared beef tenderloin in black pep­ per sauce, and an exotic creme brulee dessert.

Shintaro, a most elegant (and expensive) Japanese restaurant at the Bellagio, specializes in fresh seafood, sushi, and teppanyaki. The unusual sushi bar appears to be floating on dazzling blocks of ice. The Kaiseki seven-course meal was priced at $95; kaiseki means "stone in pocket," referring to an old Japanese folk tale roughly equivalent to the English "stone soup" fable. A teppanyaki dinner is priced at $55.

Noodles features regional noodle dishes from Thailand, Japan, China, and Vietnam . Chinese dim sum is available every day. Open daily, 11 A.M. to 3 A.M. Sam's American has an open kitchen, befitting this casual eatery serving the best of regional American fare. Styled like a stone-age Flintstones set, entrees for lunch and dinner are priced from about $12 to $30. Bellagio is located along the Las Vegas Strip at the former site of the Dunes Hotel. There were no (real) sand dunes in sight, but there was a heck of a golf course out back of this Strip veteran.
