Los Angeles Lakers
There is no doubt about it, the 2008 season is looking nothing but up for the Los Angeles Lakers. Even with their start in adding quite a few new players to the Lakers roster, they have already crushed the critic's pre-season reviews. The Lakers have already made their third-straight GLIAC Tournament and with it eared nine conferences wins. That rakes the Lakers in at fifteen the third year in a row.
Not only are they starting strong with these new players, but the Lakers have a winning head coach with Gary Manchel. He just recently hit the 200 career win milestone, and has no signs of slowing down. One great addition to the Los Angeles Lakers can be seen in the talent of Derek Fisher, who has a past of strong team ethic and much skill on both offensive and defensive sides of the game. This is very important for the Lakers, seeing as they have been criticized in the past for having many one-way players. Lakers Ronny Turiaf and Jordan Farmar have also been noted as obtaining great skills on both sides of the court, and there is much hope for them all coming together and only strengthening each other this season. As well, there was much defensive strength seen in Andrew Bynum last season, which can only be built upon this season for the Lakers. As well as the new Lakers, there is also team strength with Chris Mihm's as he returns from his ankle injury that benched him for all of last season. This is definitely strength for the Lakers seeing as Mihm's and all of his seven feet height have much past talent as a strong offensive team player for the Lakers. It may take a few games for Mihm to return to his full strength and power after being off the court for such a long period, but it is looking up for the Lakers' and their overall team strength with Mihm back in action and healed. Another large strength the Lakers have under their belt is the realization that they need to stay strong and practice mostly on their team plays. When they have been known to do this, such as when the Lakers went off against the Suns over the past two playoff series. It is at these times when the Lakers take strength in passes and team plays that they statistically perform their best. Some question whether or not Kobe Bryant has it in him to accept this teamwork method of playing, but he has said that he is fully in it to win it with the team support right along side all of his Laker mates. Last season may have been full of injuries and faulty plays for the Lakers, but they have only grown as a team on both sides of the court, with new added key players, and past players health recuperating successfully compared to last season. The Lakers have already started the season with a bang, and have only up to go from here. So get your ticket to a Laker's game and become part of the Los Angeles Lakers experience live!
