The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls are ready to face each other once again in one of the most exciting games in this play-off. Los Angeles Lakers is one of the hottest
Basketball teams in the past few seasons. It was headed by team coach, Philip Douglas
"Phil" Jackson, former coach of the NBA's Chicago Bulls from the year 1989 to 1998. He
is best known for his offensive strategy, the Triple-Post offense or known to many as
the Triangle offense. His strategy gave him the reputation as one of the greatest NBA
coaches of his time. He has already proven his skills by making a total of 10 NBA
Championships. However, his skills would not have been effective without the help of his players. Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Toni Kukoc, Ron Harper, Steve kerr, Luke Longley, and Michael Jordan are notable players who played under the supervision of Coach Phil Jackson. Michael Jordan, one of the NBA legends and considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time. His achievements include Rookie of the Year Award (1984–85), slam dunk champion (1986-87, 1987-88), NBA Most Valuable Player Award (1987–88, 1990–91, 1991–92, 1995–96, 1997–98), and many more. During the time of Phil Jackson as the coach of Chicago Bulls, he considered Michael Jordan as his ace player. When Phil Jackson resigned and left the Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers opened their doors and took Jackson as their head coach.
Before head coach Phil Jackson came into the picture, Los Angeles Lakers was known as a talented and dominant team in the history of National Basketball Association. Notable players include Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Wilt Chamberlain. However, when Phil Jackson entered the team in 1999, Los Angeles became unstoppable. The team recieves its consecutive championship award for the NBA finals from 1999 up to 2002. Los Angeles Lakers today consists of talented players to back up Coach Phil Jackson. The following are the players that make-up the Lakers:
- Brown, Kwame (Forward/Center)
- Bryant, Kobe ( Shooting Guard)
- Bynum, Andrew (Center)
- Cook, Brian (Power Forward)
- Douthit, Marcus (Forward)
- Evans, Maurice (Shooting Guard)
- Farmar, Jordan (Point Guard)
- McKie, Aaron (Shooting Guard)
- Mihm, Chris (Center)
- N'diaye, Mamadou (Center)
- Odom, Lamar (Small Forward)

- Radmanovic, Vladimir (Power Forward)
- Turiaf, Ronny (Power Forward)
- Vujacic, Sasha (Point Guard)
- Walton, Luke (Small Forward)
- Williams, Shammond (Point Guard)
Kobe Bryant (1997 NBA Slam Dunk Champion) was considered as the ace player of the team. After the trade of who is now the Miami star center, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant became the team leader of the Lakers. Together with other team members, Lakers determination for the NBA championship grows. They are wiling to go through the hardships just to make it in the NBA finals. Especially now with the 18 year-old Andrew Bynum (2005 10th NBA Draft pick), playing as the center of the group, no team can stand in the way of Lakers road to championship.
A few years after the retirement of Coach Phil Jackson, Scott Skiles became the coach of the team Chicago Bulls. Scott Skiles was a former player who played for different NBA teams such as Milwaukee Bucks (1986–87), Indiana Pacers (1987–89), Orlando Magic (1989–94), Washington Bullets (1994–95), and Philadelphia 76ers (1995–96). During his early years as a professional NBA player, he received an award for being the most improved player (1991). A few years after his retirement, he continued his career as a coach. Being a coach, Scott Skiles uses his experience as a player to improve the defense and the offense of his team. Chicago Bulls after the time of his airness, Michael Jordan, has never made it to the championship. However, head coach Scott Skiles together with his team member had this hunger to make it in NBA championship. This hunger for victory made him and Chicago Bulls a not so easy opponent. Chicago Bulls today consists of fourteen players namely:
- Allen, Malik (Power Forward)
- Barrett, Andre (Shooting Guard)
- Brown, P.J. (PoweR Forward/Center)
- Deng, Luol (Small Forward)
- Duhon, Chris (Point Guard)
- Gordon, Ben (Shooting Guard)
- Griffin, Adrian (Shooting Guard/Small Forward)
- Hinrich, Kirk (Point Guard)
- Khryapa, Viktor (Small Forward)
- Nocioni, Andres (Shooting Forward)
- Sefolosha, Thabo (Shooting Guard)
- Sweetney, Michael (Power Forward)
- Thomas, Tyrus (Forward)
- Wallace, Ben (Center)
Lakers vs. Bulls matched up, is the most awaited game of the year. The two teams are both struggling to prove that they are the best. In fact, in the year 1991, Electronic Arts sports released a video game for the Sega entitled "Bulls versus Lakers." This game was made for both the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers fans. However, playing the game is different from watching the live game, especially when two of the greatest teams of our time in the history of NBA were playing.
Although many speculate that Lakers will win their match against the six-time NBA champions, Chicago Bulls, it’s still too early to decide what will happen in the game. Chicago Bulls is a difficult team to beat. Although Lakers has been doing great these past few seasons, they can never make it if they don’t take Chicago Bulls seriously. Los Angeles Lakers has Kobe Bryant as their star player, while Chicago Bulls has Ben Wallace. Both of them are good offensive players and are both highly disciplined athletes. The Last time that these two teams matched, Lakers defeated Bulls. The Lakers vs. Bulls ended with the score of 82-72 in favor of Los Angeles Lakers. Although Chicago has been beaten by the bulls, they are much willing to recover. For them the last match-up that did not turned out as planned was a failure, but now they are very much ready for the match-up in these upcoming Lakers vs. Bulls match up. Whoever team wins in this match-up is uncertain. However one thing is for sure -- the match up between these two teams will be worth watching.
Since 1996 the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls have captured six National Basketball Association crowns, winning three apiece. In that time frame these two franchises have showcased such greats as Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, and ofcourse the great Michael Jordan. With the Los Angeles Lakers once again becoming a Western Conference power and the Chicago Bulls acquiring former Detroit Pistons' all-star Ben Wallace, both teams figure to among the league's elite. With Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson back on the sidelines their will be a competitive fire between the two teams that burns bright due to the fact Jackson was the head man when Chicago attained their glory.Kobe Bryant and LaMar Odom will lead the Los Angeles Lakers into battle against Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, and the aforementioned Wallace as the two squads collide at Staples Center.Dont miss the Chicago Bulls only appearance in Los Angeles against the Lakers. It may even be a preview of the NBA Finals. |
