Los Angeles Lakers History

Berger and Chalfen owned the franchise, Detroit Gems, by 1946.  By 1947, the name of the franchise was changed into Minneapolis Lakers.  By 1948, John Kundla was the coach of LA Lakers.  During the Minneapolis Lakers, George Mikan, Vern Mikkelsen, Jim Pollard, Slater Martin, and as well as Clyde Lovellette were Hall of Famers who won five championships in the years 1949, 1950, 1952, 1953 and 1954.

By 1980, Los Angeles Lakers, guided by Coach Pat Riley, appeared in the finals eight times in the decade.  The team was considered five times champions.  By 1996 to 1997 off-season, Shaquille O’Neal as well as Kobe Bryant joined the team, and both players performed well.  By 1999, changes took place as Phil Jackson was hired as Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach.  By 2000 to 2002, Lakers was successful once again by winning three consecutive NBA Finals. 

Throughout the year, Los Angeles Lakers had proven their worth as basketball players of the NBA.  The team of Lakers was determined and was able to show sportsmanship and excellent teamwork.   
 
Sacramento Kings History

Rochester Royals, founded in 1945, was the first name of the Sacramento Kings franchise.  Rochester Royals won the National Basketball League championship by 1946.  By 1948, the team transferred into the Basketball Association of America. 

As the Rochester Royals played in the National Basketball Association, the success was followed by winning the NBA title in 1951.  The Royals moved to Cincinnati, Ohio by the year 1957.  When the team played in the East Division, the team was over Boston Celtics.  Finally, by 1985, the team moved to Kansas, Missouri and left Cincinnati.  The team of Royals was named Sacramento Kings due to the same baseball franchise in the community.    

The Sacramento Kings reached the Western Conference Finals in 1980-1981 seasons.  By 1996, the franchise was sold to Maloof Family by John Thomas.  The team of Sacramento Kings was considered as one of the most exciting teams of the National Basketball Association. 

The Sacramento Kings is the brother franchise of the Women’s National Basketball Association.  The Kings has also eight consecutive playoff seasons in a row.
