Kings vs Coyotes a blossoming rivalry.
The Los Angeles Kings versus Phoenix Coyotes rivalry has quickly become one of the better rivalries in the National Hockey League's Western Conference. Due to the feisty style of play of the Coyotes and the fact the teams play each other five times per season the rivalry has become more heated in recent seasons. When the Kings made their Stanley Cup run in 2012 they faced the Coyotes in the Western Conference finals, prevailing in five games. Like many National Hockey League rivalries the Kings and Coyotes rivalry was cemented in the playoffs, continuing in subsequent seasons. Both the Kings and the Coyotes have a similar style of play, relying on gritty defense, hard-working two-way forwards and solid goaltending. Both Jonathan Quick and Mike Smith are among the better goaltenders in the NHL, creating tight contests that are often decided by just a goal.

Kings Vs Coyotes TicketsLike many sports rivalries, fans can often point to one particular player that firmly took the passion between the fan bases and players to the next level. In regards to the Kings and Coyotes much of the hostility is centered on the presence of Kings Captain Dustin Brown. As the Coyotes rose to prominence as a Western Conference contender the personal animosity between Brown and the Coyotes emerged and reached a crescendo on February 16, 2012 when Dustin Brown laid a hit on Coyotes forward Rusty Klesla, leading to Klesla needing help off the ice. The hit on Klesla led to Brown dropping the gloves with Coyotes Captain Shane Doan and kicking off an era of huge animosity between the two teams and several other skirmishes in the famous February 16 game. The distaste for Brown among the Coyotes players and fan base would become even more pronounced in the playoffs when Brown laid a massive hit on Pheonix's Michael Rozsival. With Phoenix and Los Angeles playing each other five times each season the rivalry between the two teams should continue into the near future.

Don't miss a single minute of Kings Vs Coyotes action with the April 2nd game being the final NHL regular season game for the Kings.
