When they came together back in 2002 in Las Vegas, The Killers consisted of Brandon Flowers on vocal and keyboards, Dave Keyning on guitar and vocals, Mark Stoermer on bass guitar and vocals and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. on percussion and drums. Ever since they got together, unlike the majority of almost all rock bands, the group has found a way to stay together and rocking strong. One of the greatest things about The Killers is that they pay attention to post-punk musical influences from back in the 80's and 90's, which makes for quite an original new wave sound.
It was a blessing in disguise back in 2001 when Brandon Flowers was left in the cold by his former band, Blush Response, when they all decided they were going to L.A. or bust and Flowers was not in for the move. Thankfully, Flowers and David Keuning soon met as well as Vannucci Jr. and Stoermer. The first two came to the second with the idea of coming together to make what would soon be the epic rock group that is The Killers. They were all in on it and started playing at venues around the Las Vegas area.
Soon enough The Killers caught the eye of some executives and they signed their first deal with the British label Lizard King. It was then in June of 2004 that The Killers released their first debut album, Hot Fuss . From then on it was nothing but love for The Killers and their fan base grew insane after the release of Hot Fuss . The album itself reached 4x Platinum in the UK and 3x Platinum in the States. As well as the overall popularity of the album, quite a few singles came out of Hot Fuss , such as "Mr. Brightside", "All These Things That I've Done", and the re-release of "Somebody Told Me."
The Killers came out with their follow up album in October of 2006, Sam's Town . In the first week it was on the shelves it sold well over 700,000 copies around the globe. As well, it hit number two on the Billboard chart and by January of 2007 it had already sold over a million copies. As with their first album, The Killers got some banging singles out of Sam's Town with "When You Were Young", "Read My Mind", " Bones" and "For Reasons Unknown".
After their latest album release with Day & Age , The Killers have solidified their talent and amazing skills as a rock band, and only have greater things to come of them.
