The Husbands have been making a name for themselves in the West Coast in its post-grunge scene. The Husbands began to take root when Sarah Reed and Sadie Shaw met in the eighth grade. Since then, those two members of The Husbands became good friends and eventually formed bands such as the Bonnot Gang with Dale Shaw of Blood Sausage and the Bangs' Maggie Vail. The Husbands’ Sadie Shaw moved to San Francisco to form “On the Take” with Carlos Huerta. Likewise, The Husbands’ Sarah Reed stayed in Olympia and made ties with Mirah from The Drivers. Both ventures were short-lived and took place before The Husbands gained the popularity they enjoy today. Reed and Shaw simply can’t find their balance without each other which made it possible for the presence of The Husbands today. The Husbands eventually released “Introducing the Sounds of…” along with No Knife/Subtractions’ former member Nikki Sloate under Swami Records in 2003.
The Husbands’ debut album showcased their ability to mix '60s pop/rock and macho rock. The Husbands released their debut album under Swami Records on the 1st of July, 2003. The Husbands also showed that chicks can cause a little trouble without getting caught with doing their own rendition of the Barbarians’ “Take it or Leave it.” “Introducing the Sounds Of...” featured 14 tracks.
