Simon and Garfunkel History and Biography:
Simon and Garfunkel consists of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. In 1957, the childhood friends out of Queens , New York formed the group Tom and Jerry and found modest success. In 1965, nearly a decade later, they exploded onto the mainstream commercial scene with their hit single The Sounds of Silence, leading to their music being featured in the impacting film, The Graduate.
Simon and Garfunkel have earned several Grammy's and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. They are notorious for breaking up and reuniting and their 1981 reuniting resulted in half a million fans gathered at Central Park to hear them live. The event was momentous and the live track had to be edited to cut out a song where a fan rushed at Paul Simon, disrupting the song.
