Phish History and Biography:
Phish is considered an icon in the rock world. Founded in 1983, four students from the University of Vermont came together and played endless jam sessions throughout college. They remained a solid group until the last decade, in which they have taken two hiatus'.
Throughout the span of their 20+ year career, Phish has released thirteen studio albums, seven live albums, six videos, and a massive 27-concert series of albums called Live Phish.
In their second comeback, this is more exciting than previously. At the commencing of their first comeback, Phish teamed up with rapping megastar Jay-Z before an audience of 65,000 to bid a final farewell, saying the band was breaking up once and for all. On stage a teary McConnell struggled through “Wading in the Velvet Sea ”, and Anastasio came out on stage to say good-bye. Phish's “final” concert resulted in one of the biggest live acts in Rock n' Roll history.
Apparently time off was too much, as independently each band member went on air or on record expressing their remorse over breaking up and also their hopes that eventually one day they would all play together again. Finally, in 2008, after four years off (their longest break to date), Phish announced on their website they would be touring again.
