Coming from Los Angeles, California, Ozomatli is made up of eight different band members, and some times they are known to play with a few less and a couple more than that. Their main focus is in Latin hip hop and rock, which makes for one great mix of an endless spectrum of different music worlds and turns into something fans all over the world have come to grow in love with.
As well as their diverse music, they are also known for their musical hodgepodge of salsa, jazz, funk and reggae to name a few. Currently the members that make up Ozomatli are as follows: Wil-Dog Abers on bass, marimbula and background vocals, Raul 'El Bully' Pacheco on guitar, tre, jarana and vocals, Justin 'El Nino' Poree on percussion and rap vocals, Asdru Sierra on trumper, lead vocals and piano, Ulises Bella on saxophone, background vocals, keyboard and melodica, Jira Yamaguchi on Tabla, cajon, percussion and background vocals, Chris Cano on drums, Mario Calire on drums and Chali 2na on rap vocals.
Through the years Ozomatli has seen many members come and go, but it seems the group they have now is definitely making the sweetest tunes the world has ever knows. Ozomatli has come out with four studio albums, Ozomatli , Embrace the Chaos , Street Signs and Don't Mess with the Dragon . They have also release a live album, Live at the Fillmore in 2005 and two EP's.
Ozomatli has as well done a number of collaborations for "One of These Days" with Santana on Shaman to "Mi Gente" on Kumbia Kings III with the works of Kumbia Kings. They have also gotten together with Delinquent Habits on New and Improved with "Let The Horn Blow" and "En Este Varrio". Ozomatli worked on a Sublime tribute album, Look at All the Love We Found with the piece "April 29, 1992 (Miami)", which was a huge success and moving masterpiece.
When Ozomatli goes on tour this 2008, they will be kicking things off at the Fillmore in San Francisco on December 11 th , 12 th , 13 th , and 14 th , to be followed by a string of performances at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood on December 18th , 19th and 2 th .
