One Direction Band Information:
One Direction has the beginnings of most boy bands. They beat thousands of other contestants to get five spots on "The X Factor." Their names were Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson. The five didn't know each other before the show but the judge suggested they form a group and they finished as the third place winners. The fact that they were put together was good fortune because their voices and style worked so well together.
Their song, "Forever Young," was leaked online when the season ended and they signed a recording deal with Syco Records and then went on a tour with the rest of the X Factor contestants. Their singles were chart toppers in the UK and when their album was released it sold over one hundred thirty copies in the first week. "That's What Makes You Beautiful," is still a chart topper. Teenage girls and their moms scream all over whenever it comes on. The young heart throbs have that type of effect on them.
Eventually they were starting to be heard of in the US. They experienced the same success in the US as they had in the UK. Harry Styles was most recently on gossip columnist's lips for a relationship with Taylor Swift, and the boys continue to make headlines with their lives and loves. There is talk of a television series in the works which has rumors of a modern day Monkies.
One thing is for certain, One Direction is here to stay
