Front man Brandon Reilly began his musical career as a local musician for various local hardcore bands. Reilly’s reputation became firmly established when he joined the pop-punk group, the Movielife, as the band’s lead guitarist. His four-year stint as the Movielife’s lead guitarist gave Reilly recognition even on a national level, but the group eventually disbanded.
In 2003, Brandon Reilly put together the band Nightmare of You. He enlisted the aid of high school buddy Joseph McCaffrey and the rest of the band followed. Nightmare of You used to release their music under their own record label, The Bevonshire Label, before signing with Sire Records.
Nightmare of You’s talent has been recognized by some prominent award-giving bodies. The Band has been nominated for mtvU Woodie for Best and Most Downloaded. Nightmare of You also won Yahoo Music’s Who’s Next? for the month of April 2006. Previous winners of Yahoo’s Who’s Next? include My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, and Hinder.
When asked about his songwriting, Nightmare of You’s Brandon Reilly has been quoted to say “Writing is therapeutic,” Reilly insists. “I have [always] been dysfunctional [that’s] probably why my lyrics come across as dark. But you have to have a decent sense of humor about what cards you are dealt in life.”
Nightmare of You currently has an album under its belt. Nightmare of You’s self- titled album was released on the 13th of September, 2005. Nightmare of You’s debut album was initially released under The Bevonshire Label and was eventually re-released under East West Records. Nightmare of You is an 11-track album which features the songs:
- "The Days Go By Oh So Slow"
- "Dear Scene, I Wish I Were Deaf"
