Muse is an English rock group that started in 1994 out of Teignmouth. Each of the three band members of Muse were in separate bands at the time, all attending college. After lead singer Matthew Bellamy auditioned, successfully, to be the guitarist in Dominic Howard’s band, it wasn’t long before the two asked then-drummer Chris Wolstenholme to learn bass for them. It wasn’t until the group won a local Battle of the Bands that the trio soon began to take Muse more seriously.

Since then bands official formation, Muse has released five albums under no less than four separate record labels, the most recent of which was Warner Brothers. They have been the winner of 24 musical awards from various organizations, out of sixty nominations worldwide. In September of 2008, all three members of Muse were awarded Honorary Doctorates of the Arts by Plymouth University.
