Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., is a New Orleans native who signed to his first label as a part of a group at the age of fifteen. After some small success with his group, Lil Wayne went solo at the age of 17. His debut album went double platinum and reached #3 on the Billboard album charts, thus Lil Wayne created a name for himself as a reputable artist in the industry.
Lil Wayne's second and third albums were not nearly as successful, but his fans agreed that the content of his lyrics was evolving. It was just his delivery that needed working on. It went platinum in its first week of release alone, with his single Lollipop making #1 for the first time in Lil Wayne's career.
