A Much Awaited Performance by Led Zeppelin and Foo Fighters
01/30/08
As the participants for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards prepare for the event, John Paul Jones, the renowned bassist of Led Zeppelin, has to write and arrange a special orchestral version of The Pretender, Foo Fighters’ smash hit song. John Paul Jones will be the special guest conductor of the Foo Fighters’ orchestra.
The performance will provide twenty unsigned musicians the chance to perform with Foo Fighters as part of the orchestra conducted by John Paul Jones. This segment called, My Grammy Moment will lead to the much awaited moment of Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters to work with Led Zeppelin. “We're participating in My Grammy Moment because it creates opportunities; opportunities to write, compose, play and study music — skills that absolutely need to be passed on to generations to come,” Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters said. “And thanks to My Grammy Moment, musicians from this next generation have the chance to play with us at the Grammys as part of our orchestra.”
The Foo Fighters have won four Grammys while Led Zeppelin was awarded with Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
It has been Dave Grohl’s dream to be a part of Led Zeppelin and he would consider this event as a dream come true not just for him, but for the other participants of the orchestra as well.
The orchestral performance of John Paul Jones and Foo Fighters are set to perform at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards on February 10, 2008 in Staples Center, Los Angeles, California.
