When he was born on September 12 th , 1931, in Saratoga, Texas, George Glenn Jones' parents had no idea the potential and fame and success their young boy would come to achieve. They did however immerse the young George Jones with a house full of music with their record collection as well as all of the gospel music George Jones was surrounded by every time he went to church. It was his seventh year that Jones found his niche. It was when his parents gave him his first taste of country music through the radio that he fell in love with the twang and tunes.
Two years after George Jones realized that country music was where his heart was he was given his first guitar on his ninth birthday. This was the turning moment in the future of George Jones and all that would become of him and his musical talent. In no time at all he was playing everywhere he could, and saving each and every dollar. At the age of sixteen a young George Jones moved on over to Jasper, Texas where he quickly found a gig at a local radio station where he gained some small town exposure.
It was before George Jones even got out of his teen years when he married for the first time, which didn't last. George Jones then ventured into the world of the United State Marine Corp. That lasted a while, but in the end when he left that role is when the world of George Jones on the country music scene started to hit it big.
