When Dave Grohl and his previous group, Nirvana, parted ways back in 1994 after the death of Kurt Cobain, he didn't ever think that starting up a new group would be able to top his Nirvana legacy. Even though Nirvana turned into all that it is and more to this day and many more to come, the Foo Fighters have definitely come a long way and proven that they have what it takes to rock and roll with the best of them while still holding on to their grunge and alternative roots and sound.
As hard as it may be to grasp, the original "Foo Fighter" recordings were made up of no one but Dave Grohl, each and every instrument he could put his hands on, and five days in the studio. When he came out and released his "Foo Fighter" work, the music industry started buzzing about this new sound. Grohl had no idea this would be the reaction, and decided that he needed to get some members to make Foo Fighters a band rather than a one-man army, although he definitely proved that he could and did take that feat on. After gathering the talent of bass player Mate Mendel, drummer William Goldsmith and guitarist Pat Smear together, the foursome came together to make music as the Foo Fighters.
Near the beginning of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl was entirely against large productions and press conferences. The Fighters kicked off their first live performance at a keg in February of 1995, and after that it was on to small venues. Soon enough the Foo Fighters were on a roll and touring with Mike Watt, and followed that with an appearance at the England Reading Festival.
Currently consisting of Grohl on lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, bass guitar and drums, Nate Mendel on bass guitar, Taylor Hawkins on drums and backing vocals and Chris Shiflett on lead guitar and backing vocals- the Food Fighters have to date released six albums, and won countless awards, such as a Grammy Award for their "Learn to Fly" music video.
The Foo Fighters are one of those grunge bands that still have their original Seattle-based flavor, and offer it graciously to audiences everywhere. Stay in the know with ticket information as it becomes available for your seats to see the Foo Fighters live and in concert.
