Fleetwood Mac History and Biography:
Fleetwood Mac has been around since 1967 and is still putting out number one albums. They have a long history with over sixteen members coming and going since their formation. Founding member Peter Green met fellow founding member, who is still current with the band, Mick Fleetwood, to join his group Bluesbreakers. It was not long before both men decided they should start their own band.
In their decision to leave Bluesbreakers, Mick Fleetwood and Peter Green found Jeremy Spencer and bob Brunning. They named the group Fleetwood Mac in hopes that fellow Bluesbreaker band member John McVie would leave their old group to join theirs. After making their debut at the Windsor Jazz and Blues Festival, John McVie agreed to join, replacing Bob Brunning.
So, it was with the four of them that Fleetwood Mac was able to release their self-titled first album and reached number four in the U.K. Since then Fleetwood Mac has released fifteen more studio albums, seven box sets, six live albums, as well as almost sixty singles. Three of their albums have reached number one, and an additional three in the top ten.
Fleetwood Mac stands as a prolific group that has overcome many obstacles. Few bands could ever survive so many personnel changes, yet Fleetwood Mac's drive for music is what sustains them.
