Fall Out Boy History and Biography:
Fall Out Boy is a four-piece band to come out of Wilmette , Illinois in 2001. Formed by the bands current lead guitarist, Joe Trohman, and bassist Pete Wentz, Trohman and Wentz decided they wanted to create music more similar to what they grew up on, such as bands like Greenday and Descendants.
Trohman met their lead singer, Patrick Stump, in a Border's bookstore when he overheard Patrick talking about the band Neurosis; music they both liked. At the time a different drummer was recruited to play drums, and the rest is history! Fall Out Boy initially played their first two shows untitled as a band. Then someone suggested Fall Out Boy, the sidekick to Radioactive man, a character on The Simpson's. The name stuck.
In just less than a decade, Fall Out Boy has gone from two kids wanting to sound like Greenday, to selling over 2.5 million albums worldwide. They have released five studio albums in just five years, as well as a live album in 2008. Fall Out Boy's first and second albums were both released in 2003, Fall Out Boy's Evening With Your Girlfriend and Take This To Your Grave, and were mild commercial successes. The second album was the first to feature the bands current drummer, Andy Hurley.
Fall Out Boy's third album reached number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200, as well as making UK and Australian charts. Their success with this album helped cement their reputation as a talented band that delivers incredible live performances. Their oft-cheeky and intelligent choices for song and album titles also lend to their authenticity and originality as a group of brilliant and thoughtful musicians.
