Born Aimee Anne Duffy in Bangor , Gwynedd, Wales on June 23, 1984, Duffy has not been on the music scene for long. It was only last year in 2007 that the pop and neo soul artist known as Duffy broke into the music world. Since then I has not taken a year even to prove that people everywhere are falling in love with Duffy. Some have referred to her as the next Amy Winehouse, and with the facts that she has sold already over three million of her first album Rockferry , it is no wonder that people everywhere are taking note and falling captive to her tunes.

When Duffy was born and raised in Nefyn in North Wales , she was sister to her twin Katy, as well as an older sister by the name of Kelly. It was after her mother and father divorced, and all the daughters and their mother moved to live in Pembrokeshire that 19 year old Aimee Duffy decided to drop the Aimee in all aspects of her life and strictly be Duffy.

It was not all easy and breezy for Duffy growing up. There were many obstacles Duffy had to overcome, but she did and it only made her that much stronger and that much more passionate about the beauty of music and all it brought to her life. Duffy knew she loved music when she first saw her father John Duffy's collection of a television rock series by the name of Ready Steady Go! Duffy fell in love and at the bright age of six she was singing from here to there and everywhere in between. She decided to join her school choir, but unfortunately they could not handle the beauty and originality that was Duffy at the time. But there were better things in Duffy's future than her school choir.

After playing in bars around town, Duffy went through and learned a lot the last few teen years in college and through many helpful friends, such as Bernard Butler. It was in November 23, 2007 when the beautiful day came that Duffy was contracted to A&M Records. From then on it was magic with anything that Duffy has touched. Nominations for Breakthrough Act and Best Track for Mercy are already pouring in from the Q Awards, and many others.
