Bruce Springsteen History and Biography:
Bruce Springsteen, birth name Frederick Joseph Springsteen, was born September 23, 1949. He grew up in New Jersey and is born of Italian and Irish working-class parents. Bruce Springsteen began playing music when he was just seven years old. He saw Elvis Presley's infamous dance on The Ed Sullivan Show and when he was thirteen Springsteen purchased his first guitar. Three years later his mother bought him his first real Kent , taking out a loan to do so.
In 1965, Bruce Springsteen became lead singer and guitarist for The Castiles after he became an understudy to Tex and Marion Vinyard. He promised his mother he was going to make it, and with The Castiles he recorded his first two songs and performed at venues across Jersey .
It was in the 60's that Springsteen experimented the most with genres and groups, taking up positions with no less than four different bands and playing around with Gospel, church music, jazz, R&B, blues, and early rock and roll. By 1972 Bruce Springsteen had his E Street Band and began recording signed with Columbia records.
From 1990 until the 2000's, Bruce Springsteen left his New Jersey life and moved to Los Angeles . This resulted in on-again off-again musical ventures with his E Street Band. During that period, Bruce Springsteen was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Today Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band are on-again and have a full schedule of performances set up for this next year.
