Raised in Louisiana , Spears was fed on performing antics. By the age of nine she was an accomplished gymnast, winning competitions. At age eight she attended N.Y. Cities Professional Performing Arts School and auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club. At the time, Spears was too young. She had her first appearance on national television when she was 11, when she won the 1 st round of Star Search. Finally, she made it into the Mickey Mouse Club from the ages of 12 to 13.

At age 16 Britney Spears joined the pop group Innosense, and as a result, was signed by Jive records. After being signed by Jive, Brittany 's world-level of stardom took off. Booking the opening act for her then boyfriend Justin Timberlake's group, ‘N Sync, and fellow boy-pop-group sensation Backstreet Boys, the pop princess began setting musical records.

During her child-custody nightmares, Spears went through some dark personal challenges, infamously shaving her head after a less-than-24 hour stint in rehab, and then re-admitting herself to a different clinic.
