Asobi Seksu is a band based in the largest city of the United States, the city of New York. Asobi Seksu in Japanese colloquially means “playful sex.” The band is consisting of four talented members namely Yuki Chikudate (lead vocals, keyboards), James Hanna (guitar, vocals), Haji (bass), and Mitch Spivak (drums). Since the release of Asobi Seksu’s self-titled debut album in 2004, the band has grown in popularity and became famous in indie music scene. The band since then received several positive write-ups from large music critics and magazines.

Asobi Seksu's vocalist Yuki Chikudate was known for her talent to sing both in English and Japanese. Her unique falsetto combined with a heavy guitar noise created by James Hanna makes a sensual and quality music that listeners will surely love. Yuki Chikudate is a 26 year old, second generation Japanese American. She grew up in southern California, in places like Gardena and Walnut. When Yuki Chikudate reached the age of 16, she decided to move in New York and since then she never changed place and made New York her home. She convinced her father and mother to let her go and study music. Her parents both agreed and decided to enroll her in the Manhattan School of Music. Yuki Chikudate was a piano major. She used to play piano at the age of five. Playing piano at her very young age trained her to become a talented musician as what she is right now. Yuki Chikudate and James Hanna met during their college years and soon became friends. James Hanna was born in Long Island but decided to study in New York. Both of them were studying in the same school. However, James Hanna had his own band back then. When James Hanna's band dissolved he started a new band and asks Yuki to join him. During those years Yuki Chikudate was only playing keyboards for background. After several years of being together in a band, together with other co-members, Asobi Seksu was born. Today Asobi Seksu has already released two successful albums. The second album that they released entitled "Citrus" was expected to hit the music scene.
