It didn't take long for a young Alan Menken to realize that he was born for music and music was made for him. After graduating from high school, Alan Menken went on to attend New York University where he started out as a pre-med student. That career path wasn't nearly as strong as his avid love for music, which is what his major soon changed over to. Soon enough Alan Menken graduated fro NYU, and moved on over to the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop where he learned many key elements that landed him gigs with writing jingles and songs.
