Born in the small town of Midlothian, Virginia on September 8th , 1960, Aimee Mann knew she was destined for the stage at a young age. After graduating from Midlothian High School, Aimee Man headed on out to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. It wasn't too long before Aimee Mann got bit by the punk rock bug. She no sooner ditched Berklee to join arms with her first ever punk rock band, and they called themselves the Young Snakes.
The Young Snakes and Aimee Mann did well for themselves with their first album release in Bark Along with the Young Snakes in 1982. Only a year later Aimee Mann found herself wanting to shed away from the punk rock image and focus more on the sweeter things. It was at this time that Aimee joined in with a boyfriend from her Berklee days to create ‘Til Tuesday, which back in 1983 was a total new wave sensation. Things were going well for Aimee Mann and her fellow band mate and boyfriend Michael Hausman, until they broke up and so it went. Aimee Mann was moving on to bigger and better things on her own.
1993 was Aimee Mann's solo career coming out party in which she released Whatever , her first solo album. Aimee Mann has since come out with a total of six solo albums, the latest being @#%&*! Smilers , which was released in June of 2008. It has since hit number 32 on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Top Independent Albums chart. Aimee Mann definitely knows how to rock and roll with the best of them.
