Discover Orange Bowl Game History:
Since 1989 Discover has been the official sponsor of the Orange Bowl, the 3 rd oldest bowl game in America after the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. Since 1935 the Orange Bowl has been a vital part of college football history.
The Discover Orange Bowl takes place annually on January 1 st at the Miami Gardens Dolphin Stadium. Its current conference tie-in is the Atlantic Coast Conference, a change that took place in 2007. In the past, the Orange Bowl hosted games with the Big East from 1935 until 1968, and then the Big Eight Conference from 1968 until 2007.
Originally the Orange Bowl took place at the Miami Field, now called the Miami Orange Bowl. In 1999 the Orange Bowl moved locations to the Dolphin Stadium. Last years Orange Bowl matched Virginia Tech against Cincinnati , who lost to VT 7-20. The MVP was Virginia Tech's running back Darren Evans.
Miami Gardens Dolphin Stadium Background and Information:
In 1987, Joe Robbie launched his project to build the Joe Robbie Stadium. Funded almost entirely through private donations, the late Dolphin Stadium was built specifically with the Miami Dolphins and the NFL in mind.
Joe Robbie revolutionized the way stadiums catered to its guests with the inclusion of extreme luxuries that accompanied the Club Level seating and luxury suites. Ticket holders to these sections were granted a surplus of first-class amenities that had never been done quite to that degree previously. It has been through the Club Seats and Luxury Suites that the Dolphin Stadium has been able to sustain itself.
In 1990 H. Wayne Huiznega purchased half of Dolphin Stadium and brought with him Major League Baseball. In 1994 he bought the other half of the stadium, becoming full owner. Since his first purchase, Mr. Huiznega has put more than a quarter of a million dollars into improvements and maintenance.
The Stadium has gone through several name changes, and in 2006 Dolphin Enterprises became the new sponsor. However, it is almost time for that contract to be up, and the Dolphin Stadium will once again be looking for a new name.
What Are Our Clients Saying?
“You guys are amazing. I called not having a clue what seats to get, and the Club Seats your rep recommended made for absolutely the best professional sporting experience I've ever had. The food was incredible, the views were incredible, and so was the service. The only thing better than watching Virginia Tech win a game is doing so in absolute comfort and royal treatment. I will definitely get my tickets with you guys again.”
