2009 Insight Bowl Game History:
The annual Insight Bowl is an NCAA Division 1 College Bowl game that pits the Big 10 and Big 12 teams against each other. Since 1989 it has been a vital part of the College Bowl scene. Originally it played at the Arizona Stadium in Phoenix , AZ until 1999, where it then relocated to the Bank One Ballpark/Chase Field in Tucson , AZ from 2000 to 2005. It now takes place at the Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe , Arizona .
Last years Insight Bowl hosted Big 12 Conference members the Kansas Jayhawks against the Big 10 Conference members the Minnesota Golden Gophers, where the Jayhawks beat Minnesota 42 to 21. It marked the 20th anniversary of the Insight Bowl Game. Played before a crowd of almost 50,000, the game was televised on the NFL Network.
Tempe , AZ Sun Devil Stadium Background and Information:
The Sun Devil Stadium, also known as the House of Heat, was built in 1958 for Arizona State University . Originally designed with a seating capacity of just 30,000, renovations and modifications over the years have increased it to 73,379. It has been the host of the Insight Bowl since 2006.
