Monday night, January 7, 2008, will go down in history for Louisiana State players and fans as they played their way to the end zone for a 38-24 win against Ohio State for the BCS National Championship trophy. This BCS National Championship win for the Tigers was not entirely unexpected, seeing as out of the 65 votes for first place cast by a national media panel, they got 60 of the votes. Throughout the season, the Tigers being led by none other than Les Miles came to the BCS National Championships with 12 wins and 2 losses. As did all the other top 6 teams, with the exception of Kansas only coming in with one loss. This makes everyone still questioning the merit of Ohio as the actual number- one team, but they walked away with the $30,000 prize for the BCS National Championship, nonetheless.
As far as the team goes, they could care less what others have to say about questioning their National Championship winnings other than their more than elated faithful fans, many of whom were around and remember that this is the Tigers second BCS National Championship first place win since the BCS started in 1998. Their last national championship win prior to their 2003 for the BCS championships was in 1958. It is a great accomplishment as a team, and they do not doubt the merit of their victory for a second.
