One of the famous and competitive teams to play in the NCAA's basketball league is the University of California, Los Angeles' Bruins. UCLA Bruins is a full member of the NCAA tournament basketball's Pacific Ten Conference. Other full members include Arizona Wildcats, California Golden Bears, Oregon State Beavers, Arizona State Sun Devils, Oregon Ducks, Washington State Cougars, Stanford Cardinal, USC Trojans, and Washington Huskies. The conference was established in the year 1915. The conference started with only four schools participating members. The UCLA Bruins joined the Conference in the year 1928. The UCLA Bruins became known as the rival of Notre Dame in the early 70's.
The UCLA Bruins basketball team's home court was Pauley Pavilion. The facility was established with the help of an American oilman and political appointee named Edwin Wendell Pauley, Sr. The arena was built to accommodate almost 13,000 spectators. It was made for the use of both Basketball and Volleyball tournaments of the Bruins. The Pauley Pavilion can be found inside the University of California, Los Angeles.
The UCLA Bruins basketball team has made 11 NCAA championships. These incredible victories were produced under the supervision of great coaches such as John Wooden and Jim Harrick. Not only that Bruins were known for their outstanding awards, it is also known as the alma matter to the legendary NBA players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (NBA's all-time leading scorer during his time, 1970 rookie of the year, Most Valuable Player in 6 different years, and 1985 Sports Illustrated magazine's "Sportsman of the Year"), Reggie Miller (one of the greatest 3-point shooter in the history of the NBA) and many more.

The school's sports uniform was a combination the colors blue and gold. The mascot of the team was named Joe and Josephine Bruin. UCLA Bruins Basketball team' consists of Head coach Ben Howland and fifteen talented players. They are the outstanding athletes who will soon mark its way to NBA history. They are the following:

When Bruins star Jordan Farmar left the team to join the NBA, Josh Shipp became the leader of the team. Josh Shipp scored 18 points last game between Houston State and UCLA. He is considered as one of the star players of the team. Along with his teammates, Josh Shipp is expected to bring their team towards championship. Other than star player Josh Shipp, Aaron Affalo is also considered as an excellent player of the team. He is one of the key players of the Bruins who help in the teams' offense. He is also considered as an all around athlete and defender of the team. However, the defense of Bruins is not enough to make them a champion. To become a champion the team also needs their teammates. The perseverance and hardship from the team will undoubtedly bring success to the Bruins. The UCLA Bruins basketball team is now ready to face their upcoming battles. Fans are expecting the team to once again win the NCAA championships. The success of the team now lies to the team’s effort, training, and discipline. The teams’ road to success is about to be witnessed by the thousands of UCLA Bruins fans.
Some of the athletes who will also compete in this NCAA season are the Boston College basketball team and the Georgia Tech basketball team. However, these two teams are about to play in a different conference. They both belong in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). ACC is also one of the most awaited and watched conference in the NCAA. Like the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East Conference or big east basketball will give entertainment to NCAA fans.
UCLA Basketball, the most prestigous of all collegiate athletic programs due to their 11 NCAA Championships returned to elite status in Coach Ben Howland's 2nd season with a tournament berth and this season the UCLA Bruins basketball team will be a National Power, the bruins recruting class of year ago made huge contributions and was the major reason behind UCLA resurgence, leading the way are 3 players PG Jordan Farmar, SF Josh Shipp, and SG Arron Affalo.....Farmar is a Wooden Award canidate, and recipient of the National Freshman of year award averaged 13.2 ppg lead the team in assists and minutes played, he will be one of the top guards in all the land, as for Shipp he muscled his way into the starting lineup right as Conference play began and never relinquished his spot among the first five and went to score nearly 10 points per game and play cerebrally and Affalo who clearly is UCLA's best all around athlete and defender, he always drew the opponent best offensive player while still managing to post 11ppg, UCLA finished 4th in the Pacific Ten Conference with a 11-7 record and 18-11 overall, the Bruins will be one of the top teams in the nation, but will have to contend with a several severe challenges along the schedule includes the Pre-Season NIT tournament,non- conference games against Michigan, Nationally ranked Nevada in the Wooden Classic at the Anaheim Pond, Elite 8 participant West Virginia, not too mention Conference showdowns against powers Arizona, Washington, and Stanford which they face twice each, and last but not least the season ending Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California......The UCLA Bruins had another very good recruiting effort that brought PG Darren Collison, F Alfred Aboya, and the jewel of the class PF Ryan Wright who should contribute immediately......Until recent times UCLA had been the standard by which all other College Basketball programs were measured by, with Ben Howland righting the ship by instilling defense, discipline, and tremendous worksite of Pauley Pavilion struck fear into the hearts of opponents.....Last years team was a bit inconsistent( able to beat #7 Washington, but managing to lose to last-place Cal by 13 pts.) but this UCLA team will have more much more savvy, depth and over experience and should not have the growing pains from a year ago....The UCLA Bruins have the talent to go deep in to the NCAA Tournament, and are even a fringe Final Four contender which means the 2005 campaign will one to remember and a certain must see attraction
