Shrek the Musical at Pantages Theater from June 12, 2011

If you love strange fairy tale romances, the kind between ugly green ogres and princess with dark secrets, you are going to love this one. Shrek the movie was fantastic, the musical will give the movie a run for the money. Get the Pantages Theatre Shrek the Musical tickets for a great evening with the family. Shrek! came to us in all his green glory in 1990. William Steig wrote the strange tale of the ugly green ogre and the beautiful princess Fiona, and it was warmly welcomed by the young and the old alike. In 2001, DreamWorks animated film and it was a spectacular success all over the world. Now it comes to you as a musical.

The Shrek production team had been toying with the idea for a musical since early 2002. But the Broadway production started only in the year 2008. The peppy song numbers are brought to you by Jeanne Tesori, with lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire.

Stephen Kramer Glickman will play the part of Shrek. Celia Keenan–Bolger will be the beautiful Princess Fiona. The much loved humorous sidekick Donkey will be played by Robert L Daye Jr. and Christopher Sieber will be the villain, the evil Lord Farquaad.

Shrek was abandoned by his family as a child and he lives a lonely life in a swamp. His precious swamp is taken over by the three little pigs and some others who were banished from Lord Farquaad’s kingdom. Shrek strikes a deal with the evil Lord to get the swamp back. Lord Farquaard will give the swamp back to Shrek if he rescues Princess Fiona. On the way to rescue the princess, Shrek meets Donkey, and they bond. Rather, Donkey bonds and Shrek obliges.
