Portland Trail Blazers February Schedule

Good thing that LaMarcus Aldridge decided to postpone his thumb operation. If he was to miss the next 6-8 weeks, the Blazers would have a hard time to keep their position in the West. And even with Aldridge in uniform, it won’t be an easy task, given the Blazers February schedule and the challenges that lie ahead. While Portland will play most of its games in February at home, the visitors are teams that are in the top of the West, or should be there. Here is a breakdown of Blazers February Schedule and their toughest games.

The Trail Blazers attendance during January averaged 19,501. This is up 0.80% from their 2014 averaged attendance of 19,346. The Trail Blazers February Schedule in the 2013/14 season ended with a 7 and 5 record. The Blazers went 4-2 at home and 3-3 on the road. The 2015 Trail Blazers February schedule will feature six games at the Moda Center and three games on the road. Currently they are 20-5 at home and 12-11 on the road.

Top 5 Portland Trail Blazers February Schedule Games.

Blazers @ Mavericks American Airlines Center February 7th
Starting price $40 | Average price $60
The Mavs and the Blazers are very close in the standings. A win here and there might decide whether the team finishes 3rd or sixth in the standings. Therefore, their direct duels are of huge importance for both teams. The Blazers do have the second best defense in the league, but they will be hard pressed to stop the Mavericks from scoring. They managed that in their first duel of the season, holding the Mavs to 87 points. View Tickets.

Blazers @ Rockets Toyota Center February 8th
Starting price $33 | Average price $53
The Blazers have their only back to back set in February in Texas. The day after visiting the Mavericks and their top offense, the Blazers pay a visit to the Rockets and James Harden, arguably one of the top 3 scorers in the league at the moment. The first duel finished with a win for the Rockets, so Portland would look to avenge their loss. View Tickets.

Grizzlies @ Blazers Moda Center February 22th
Starting price $35 | Average price $65
At the beginning of the month and their February schedule, the Blazers face tough opponents on the road. At the end of the month, they have the privilege of hosting the matchups. First on the list of tough opponents is Memphis, the second best team in the West at the moment. The Blazers are yet to win a game versus the Grizzlies this season, so this might be a good chance to do so. View Tickets.

Spurs @ Blazers Moda Center February 25th
Starting price $26 | Average price $62
This year, the Blazers look different when playing the Spurs. Last year, for example, they were routed both during the regular season and the playoffs. Portland managed to win the first two matchups, but with Kawhi Leonard in the lineup, the Spurs are a different team. View Tickets.

Thunder @ Blazers Moda Center February 27th
Starting price $49 | Average price $104
Don’t let the Thunder rankings fool you, OKC is still one of the top 4 teams in the West. With everyone healthy, the Thunder are slowly finding their groove and racking up wins, both ugly and easy. While everyone expected Portland and Oklahoma City to battle for the division title, the Blazers have it in their pocket thanks to the injuries suffered by Thunder players. But OKC is still dangerous, and the team must win almost every game in order to qualify for the playoffs. View Tickets.

Clippers February Schedule

Clippers February Schedule at Staples Center

With a big matchup in Portland versus the Trail Blazers followed by a home date with Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers it was a big week of basketball for the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers split with the Blazers and Cavs. The Clippers defeated the Sacramento Kings to finish 2-1 during the week.

Week Recap: Wednesday night the Clippers made the trip to Portland to face the Trail Blazers, who are currently in second place in the Western Conference behind the Golden State Warriors. Los Angeles prevailed 100-94, earning a big road victory behind a big effort off the bench by Jamal Crawford. The long-time 6th man scored 25 points off the bench, including a big three pointer to give the Clippers the lead for good with 3:55 left. Chris Paul had 23 points with DeAndre Jordan adding 17 points and 18 rebounds. The victory over Portland set up a highly anticipated nationally televised game versus Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night at STAPLES Center. After losing 7 of 8 games with James resting due to multiple injuries, the Cavaliers were in turmoil coming in with many questioning the long term future of first year head coach David Blatt. As he has done so many times before, James had a big effort at STAPLES Center, leading the Cavaliers to a 126-121 victory in a wild game. The Clippers had six players in double figures with Blake Griffin leading the way with 34 points and 19 rebounds. Center DeAndre Jordan added 19 rebounds and 12 rebounds. It was a frustrating loss for the Clippers who gave up a season-high in points versus a Cavs team that had been struggling. The Clippers had very little rest, heading north to Sacramento to face the Kings on Saturday night with just a nights rest. The game was tied at halftime, but the Clippers pulled away with a solid second half. Blake Griffin led five Clippers in scoring with 30 points, with Matt Barnes adding 26, including four three-pointers. Chris Paul, JJ Redick and Jamal Crawford also scored in double figures for the Clippers.

Up Next for the Clippers: The Clippers have a winnable a game with the struggling Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night. The Clippers cap off the week with a big Sunday game versus the talented Phoenix Suns in Phoenix. With some winnable games coming up the Clippers will look to build some real momentum and perhaps an extended winning streak. Although they are in the thick of playoff contention in the Western Conference, Los Angeles hasn’t had the extended winning streaks that they’ve had in recent seasons. The can kick that off with wins in favored games versus the Celtics and Nets and a big road victory in Phoenix on Sunday night.

Memphis Grizzlies @ Clippers Feb 23rd 2015 7:30pm
Get In’s $12.00 | Average $66.00
If the NBA Playoffs started today the Grizzlies and Clippers would be facing each other in the first round. Memphis is currenlty 3rd in the Western Conference and 6-4 in their last 10 games. The Grizzlies already beat the Clippers at the FedEx Forum in Nov. Marc Gasol and Zack Randoff will be a tough game for the Clippers February Schedule at home but a must needed win as well. View all Clippers vs Grizzlies Tickets for the Staples Center.

The Clippers February Schedule hasn’t been great for them in the past. In 2014 Los Angeles was 7-4 in February. In 2013 the Clippers were just 4-7 in February and in 2012 just 5-9. All four games on the Clippers Staples Center schedule in February are definitely winnable if LA can pull it together.

The Clippers February Schedule of away games doesn’t get much better for the LA. The Clippers face the Nets in Brooklyn on Feb 2nd. Lebron James and the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Feb 5th. The Toronto Raptors the next night Feb 6th in Canada. The Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb 8th at the Chesapeake Energy Center. Here is a look at the Top 5 Games the Grizzlies have coming up in 2015

Grizzlies @ Mavericks, American Airlines Center, January 27,
Starting price $17, Average price $45
The Grizzlies won the first duel, but the Mavericks still managed to score 100+ points. The challenge here for Memphis is to prove they can hold the best offensive team in the league bellow 100 points, and do so on the opposing floor. Hardly an easy task, but the Grizzlies have the skill, talent and focus to do it. While all eyes might be on the matchups in the post, Rondo versus Conley is an interesting matchup at the point guard position that might change the course of the results. View Mavericks vs Grizzlies Tickets for the American Airlines Arena.

Hawks @ Grizzlies, FedEx Forums, February 8,
Starting price $10, Average price $26
The Atlanta Hawks are arguably the best team in the league, certainly the hottest, winners of 20 in the past 22 games. They are the Spurs of the East, and are playing one of the best basketball at the moment. They’ve beat the Grizzlies during their recent streak, in Atlanta. Winning versus the Hawks is purely for confidence.View Grizzlies vs Hawks Tickets for the FedEx Forum.

Grizzlies @ Rockets, Toyota Center, March 4,
Starting Price $24, Average price $54
The Rockets are one of the few teams in the NBA that have a positive record versus the Grizzlies this year. Even the one time the Grizzlies won, Houston was playing with an injured Dwight Howard. The teams are very close in the rankings, and the tie breaker might decide the ranking between the two, and home court advantage. The Grizzlies are guaranteed to play versus one of their division rivals in the playoffs. View Rockets vs Grizzlies Tickets for the Toyota Center.

Warriors @ Grizzlies, FedEx Forum, March 27,
Starting price $15, Average price $52
A month ago, the Grizzlies and the Warriors were the top 2 teams in the West, and in the league. While the Warriors still sit at the top of the Western Conference, Memphis has slipped a bit, and lost more games. Winning versus Golden State is not easy, and Memphis has managed to win one. But that was without Andrew Bogut in the lineup. Also worth noting, Golden State is the best defensive team in the league. For a team that struggles to score like Memphis, this is a challenge. View all Grizzlies vs Warriors Tickets for the Fed Ex Forum.

Grizzlies @ Spurs, AT&T Center, March 29,
Starting price $15, Average price $45
At the moment, Grizzlies hold the tiebreaker, having won two of the three games this season. If they manage to win the last one in San Antonio, they are guaranteed home court advantage versus the Champions. The two teams share a great playoff history. The Grizzlies knocked the Spurs out of the playoffs few seasons ago, and did it as the 8th seed. Two years ago, the Spurs schooled the Grizzlies. Dallas Mavericks March Schedule

Mavericks Ticket Price Down 21% In 2015

The Dallas Mavericks are officially “All in” for this season. Trading for Rajon Rondo ensures that. The Mavericks decided to make one more move to try and get over the hump. Will they succeed? We will find out. However, it is worth noting that their defense has been improved with Rondo in the lineup. The nifty point guard is an upgrade over anyone the Mavs had before him the past two seasons. For Dallas, winning the division could go a long way in their hunt for a title. Winning the division ensures they have home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs at least. Sadly, for Dallas, the South West is one of the toughest in the NBA right now. Their most important games left in the season are mostly against division rivals.

The Dallas Mavericks rank third in attendance for home games at the American Airlines Center with an average of 20,777 a game while on the road they average 17,618 according to ESPN. At the end of 2014 the average Dallas Mavericks ticket price was $76.00 per ticket which has dropped by 21.05% starting off the 2015 part of the season to $60.00 per ticket.

Dallas is currently ranked 4th in the Western Conference just four games behind the Golden State Warriors. With some big games coming up at the American Airlines Arena the drop in price makes for some great deals on Mavericks tickets. Here a look at the top 5 games coming up for the Mavericks.

Bulls @ Mavericks, American Airlines Center, January 23th,
Starting price $66, Average price $89
The Bulls are one of the best defensive teams in the league. Therefore, it is strange that the first duel between the two teams ended 132-129 in favor of the Bulls. Chicago is not of the teams that favor high scoring games, but they can handle them. For the Mavericks, the duel with the Bulls is a true test for their offensive power. View Mavericks vs Bulls tickets for the American Airlines Arena.

Rockets @ Mavericks, American Airlines Center, February 20th,
Starting price $23, Average price $94
This is the first duel this season between the teams in Dallas, and their third matchup of the season. Houston hosted the first one and won, and they will host the second in January. The difference between the division rivals in the South West is two or three wins, so every game versus division teams counts. For Dallas, the February 20 matchup will be extremely hard, given the fact they play in Oklahoma City against the Thunder the night before. View Mavericks vs Rockets tickets for the American Airlines Arena.

Grizzlies @ Mavericks, American Airlines Center, March 20th,
Starting price $16, Average price $99
You can say the week from March 20 to March 27 is of extreme importance to the Mavericks and their standings in the Western conference playoffs race. They play the Memphis Grizzlies, the Suns and the Spurs in the week. Their duel with Memphis is especially important, since is the last matchup between the teams for the season. View Mavericks vs Grizzlies tickets for American Airlines Arena.

Spurs @ Mavericks, American Airlines Center, March 24th,
Starting price $41, Average price $104
The teams split the first two duels, with San Antonio winning in a thriller on opening night. The two teams have a long history enhanced by the matchup between Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan, arguably two of the top 10 players in the last 15 years. The March 24 game is the first one of a home and home duel between the two teams.View Mavericks vs Spurs tickets for the American Airlines Arena.

Suns @ Mavericks, American Airlines Center, April 8th,
Starting price $13, Average price $81
The Suns is the team that beat the Mavs twice this season. Everyone expect Phoenix to be the team that falls out of the playoff picture and OKC to surge and join the hunt for title. Last year, the Mavs and the Suns battled through the very end of the season for the last playoff spot. Phoenix was the team to miss out. Can that happen this year again? View Mavericks vs Suns tickets for the American Airlines Arena.

On The Road

Mavericks @ Warriors
Oracle Arena Feb 5th & March 6th 2015
With plenty of time still to go in the regular NBA season schedule if the Mav’s want to catch the Golden State Warriors the two meetings at the Oracle Arena will be extremely important. If for any reason it will give the Mavericks a good taste of what might become in the Playoffs. Currently the Mavericks are 13-5 on road and heading into the Warriors house where they are 15-1 so far this season will make this match up a 100% definite one to watch. Mavericks @ Warriors tickets are averaging $59.00 per ticket for the Oracle Arena.

Mavericks @ Trail Blazers
Moda Center March 6th 2015
The Trail Blazers are currently in second place in the Western Conference and two games behind Golden State. They are currently the hottest team in the West as they are 8-2 in their last 10 games and lost to the Mavs already once this season on Nov 6th. If the Mavericks will play them three more times and will need to win two of them to possibly secure a potential home court advantage over them. Cavaliers February Schedule

Bulls & Thunder Top Tickets On Cavaliers January Schedule

The Cavs are slowly starting to look like the championship contender many envisioned them to be when they signed LeBron James and traded for Kevin Love. There are still bumps on the road, and the roles are not clearly defined, but the team is playing better and better. It took the Heat one year to find out how they should play, and an injury to Chris Bosh to finally grasp and embrace the idea of position-less basketball and place the ball in James hands. The Cavs took less time, as Irving is slowly learning to play off the ball, and let LeBron create more for others. The biggest problem is their defense, but they are getting there. LeBron claimed they should win all 82 rebound battles during the season, but that hasn’t happened, even though the team has excellent rebounders in Anderson Varejao and Kevin Love. This is their home schedule for the Quicken Loans Arena January.

Cavs vs Mavs, January 4, Average price $72

One team that can fully explore Cavs weakness on the defensive end is the Mavericks. They have the best offense in the NBA by far, and with so many weapons, teams are having hard time holding the Mavs below 100 points per possession. Tyson Chandler owns the glass, and if the Cavs are not careful, he will punish them. Cavaliers vs Mavericks Tickets starting price is $66.00

Cavs vs Rockets, January 7, Average price $86

Another duel where the Cavs are poised to lose the rebound battle. Just few days after hosting the Mavs and Tyson Chandler, Dwight Howard and the Rockets are in town. And the Rockets are another team with many weapons, particularly on the perimeter, where they can shoot lights out. James might have to guard Harden, the leading scorer at the moment. Love is one player that can hurt the Rockets, as they do not have someone who can step out and is mobile enough to guard Love.Cavaliers vs Rockets Tickets starting price is $36.00

Cavs vs Bulls, January 19, Average price $189

The duel of two former MVP players is sure to produce some entertainment, and probably some bad blood. James is not liked in Chicago, and neither does he love the Bulls. Joakim Noah has tossed some words towards LeBron multiple times. While he was with the Heat, James was an obstacle the Bulls could not pass. Now with the Cavs, he might be even more dangerous. And we cannot forget Kyrie Irving and his duel with Derrick Rose. Cavaliers vs Bulls Tickets start starting price is $82.00

Cavs vs Jazz, January 21, Starting price $34, Average price $78

You better bet LeBron hasn’t forgotten the first duel between the teams, and Gordon Hayward’s game winning shot over James. The Jazz better be prepared for James’s revenge, as he is known to remember things. Even though he doesn’t show it, LeBron is a player with long memory. And he knows how hard his duels with the Jazz are, and how much he hates losing in Utah. Now at home, he will probably show them good he is.Cavaliers vs Jazz Tickets starting price is $34.00

Cavs vs Hornets, January 23, Average price $189

The Hornets are looking to trade Lance Stephenson, the player LeBron loves to play against. The Cavs won the first duel of the season. The Hornets are still in a mess, but they do have one player that can punish Cleveland, and his name is Big Al Jefferson. No player on Cavs roster can guard Jefferson inside, and he was a problem for James as well. The point guard matchup between Kemba Walker and Kyrie Irving is another one to watch for.Cavaliers vs Hornets Tickets start starting price is $86.00

Cavs vs Thunder, January 25, Average price $147

Is there a better matchup and a duel in the league than this one? The Thunder won the first game of the season, but that was with James in street clothes. Just think about, Ibaka vs Love, Irving vs Westbrook, and of course, James vs Durant. Three premium matchups at three different positions make this game a must watch.Cavaliers vs Thunder Tickets starting price is $96.00

Cavs vs Blazers, January 28, Average price $90

In the first week of the season, the Blazers absolutely dominated the Cavs in their first matchup. But Cleveland is much better team now, with chemistry improved and their team play improved as well. The teams have top 5 players on two crucial positions, point guard and power forward. However, how Batum defends LeBron might decide the duel. And we cannot forget Wesley Matthews, a player who thinks is the best at his position and can go hot on a given night.Cavaliers vs Trail Blazers Tickets starting price is $43.00

Cavs vs Kings, January 30, Average price $193

The Kings might be a different team by the time this two meet. Fresh out of firing Mike Malone, the Kings are looking to play at a faster pace. Their biggest problem is Demarcus Cousins and his health, as the big man has missed few games due to illness. When he is in the lineup, he is probably the most dominant post big man in the league, which could spell trouble for the Cavs. Cavaliers vs Kings Tickets starting price is $77.00

Warriors ticket prices for January

Thunder & Cavaliers Top Warriors Tickets In January

The Warriors are starting the New Year with their first four games playing at home, in Oracle Arena. The team that is hottest in the NBA, and arguably looking like the best title contender, will host some of the better quality teams in January. But with the way Stephen Curry, Clay Thompson and Co. are playing, it looks like nothing can stop them. They are winning ugly games, they are winning high scoring games, and everything in between. Curry is a legitimate MVP candidate, and Steve Kerr has made some adjustments that has placed the Warriors in top 10 for both offensive and defensive rating. Here is the Warriors ticket prices and schedule for their home games at the Oracle Arena in January.

Warriors vs Raptors, January 2, Average price $104

If DeMar DeRozan is healthy and ready to go, this might be the duel of the two best teams from each conference. The Raptors might still be No.1 in the East, but without DeRozan, they are a different team. And with him in the lineup, fans will get a chance to see two of the best backcourts in the league: Curry + Thompson vs Lowry + DeRozan.Warriors vs Raptors tickets start at $58.00.

Warriors vs Thunder, January 5, Average price $113

The Warriors won the first matchup, but that was without Durant and Westbrook in the lineup. With its dynamic duo back and healthy, the Thunder are rolling. Games versus the Warriors and other elite teams in the West are measuring stick, and Durant would sure love to send a message. OKC might not be in the top 4 in the rankings by then, but they will be there by the end of the season.Warriors vs Thunder tickets start at $52.00.

Warriors vs Pacers, January 7, Average price $67

Even without Paul George, the Pacers are a good defensive team. Roy Hibbert is back to his usual self, and under Coach Frank Vogel, the Pacers will defend. The problem is their scoring, and versus the defense of the Warriors, points do not come easy. This should be an easy win for the Warriors, but you never know.Warriors vs Pacers tickets start at $31.00.

Warriors vs Cavaliers, January 9, Average price $200

The Cavaliers are starting to figure things out, which should serve as a great building block for an amazing game. Throw in the fact that the Warriors had the chance to trade for Kevin Love, but choose to stick with the Splash Brothers instead, and there is enough intrigue to make this game one for the ages. And we haven’t even got to the point guard duel of two magicians with the ball.Warriors vs Cavaliers tickets start at $145.00.

Warriors vs Heat, January 14, Average price $185

As with many other teams they faced this season, the Warriors routed the Heat in their first matchup. This time, they will be playing on a second night of a back to back set, having played in Utah the previous night. But with the way the Heat are playing, and the injuries they are facing, they might be an easy prey for the Warriors.Warriors vs Heat tickets start at $25.00.

Warriors vs Nuggets, January 19, Average price $45

The game will feature two point guards selected in the 2009 draft, with Curry going 7th and Ty Lawson going 18th to the Nuggets. It was a point guard heavy class, and five years later, we see how good some of the prospects have developed. Lawson and Curry are arguably the two best point guards of the class, and they will have the chance to go head to head.Warriors vs Nuggets tickets start at $29.00.

Warriors vs Rockets, January 21, Starting price $32, Average price $80

The Houston Rockets and Warriors met two times this season, and GSW won both duels by a wide margin. However, things will be different now with Dwight Howard in the lineup, and looking spry as ever. James Harden couldn’t take the Warriors by himself, but he will have his big guy helping him in this one. The duel between Harden and the Splash brothers is interesting enough, with all three players able to go 30+ points on a given night, but toss in Howard and things are even more interesting.Warriors vs Rockets tickets start at $32.00.

Warriors vs Kings, January 23, Average price $75

How quickly things change in the NBA. The Kings were looking great in November, and were challenging for a playoff spot. Then Demarcus Cousins got hurt, and the Kings are falling. They fired their coach, and until they hire new one and install an identity, they will be an easy target for all teams, especially title contenders such as the Warriors.Warriors vs Kings tickets start at $44.00.

Warriors vs Celtics, January 25, Average price $67

If Rajon Rondo is still wearing green by this time, this will be one hell of a matchup. While nothing is imminent, there are rumors the Cs might trade him. But while in green, he lives for moments and matchups like these. Rondo loves going versus the elite point guards, and Curry is a challenge enough to motivate Rondo, the triple double machine.Warriors vs Celtics tickets start at $44.00.

Warriors vs Bulls, January 27, Average price $70

Two days after facing Rondo, Curry will have to face Derrick Rose, another great point guard. But Curry is no stranger to facing elite guards and shooting all over them. He has become so versatile and impossible to guard, as he can shoot, pass, dribble, drive to the basket and everything in between. The Chicago Bulls however, pose a challenge due to their stiff defense. Another interesting matchup is Butler vs Thompson, two young shooting guards on the rise. Warriors vs Bulls tickets start at $27.00.

Warriors vs Suns, January 31, Average price $84

Playing on the second night of a back to back is a challenge enough. Going against three guards and their fast tempo is even more challenging. An added bonus for the matchup is the first duel between the two. The Phoenix Suns are one of the few teams to have beaten the Warriors this season. Warriors vs Suns tickets start at $45.00.

The NBA is full of big names; however, sometimes players can become well known without actually being that good. These overrated players tend to make a lot of money even though no one can really explain why. Here’s a list of the most overrated players in the NBA for this coming season:

Deron Williams: Williams averaged only 14.3 points per game and 6.1 assists per game this season with the Brooklyn Nets. These numbers would be great for a point guard coming off the bench, but Williams is a starter and making almost $20 million a season. The Nets would be better off trading him, but Williams’s huge contract and sad performance makes him very unattractive to potential teams.

Chandler Parsons: For a small forward making about $14 million a season, 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game just does not cut it. Parsons simply does not produce well enough to earn the money he is making. There is a reason the Houston Rockets got rid of him this season despite having the cap room to be able to keep him.

Josh Smith: Smith has been in the NBA for 10 seasons, yet his style of play has not improved at all. Smith shoots less than 30 percent from beyond the arc and less than 55 percent from the free throw line. That’s right—Smith makes over $13 million a season and he can barely hit a free throw.

Dwight Howard: Howard puts up great numbers pretty consistently with the Houston Rockets, but what he lacks is leadership. Howard does not seem to have the passion and drive to lead a team to a championship. The Rockets have a good team, but they lack the veteran leadership that Howard is expected to provide. Until he gets an attitude adjustment, Howard will never be a legend.

Tony Allen: Allen may be one of the best defenders in the NBA, but he simply cannot play offense. He is a big reason for the Memphis Grizzles offensive struggles this past season. Allen averaged only 9 points per game this past season while making less than 25 percent of his three point shots and only 62.8 percent of his free throws.

O.J. Mayo: Mayo brought nothing but confrontations with the head coach and sub-par effort to the Milwaukee Bucks this season. Mayo averaged under 12 points a game and clearly was unhappy with his new team. Hopefully a new coach and the addition of Jabari Parker will encourage Mayo to try a little harder this season.

Carmelo Anthony: Anthony is without a doubt a very exciting player to watch, and the fans in New York will surely continue to fill the stands to see him play. However, Anthony is about to make $22 million this coming season; and he has a hard time leading his team to the playoffs. Anthony puts up large numbers, but until he steps up as a leader on the Knicks the team will continue to lose.

Where will Kevin Love end up?

Kevin Love

LOVE

The Kevin Love saga is continuing to unfold and in fact, it’s gradually reaching its peak, as we get closer to the free agency period. Up to now, there is no clear indication about which uniform the 25 – year old megastar will wear next season. The only thing we can be almost certain about is that he will not be a part of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Amongst all the teams which have entered the race for Love, the Golden State Warriors seem to have the capability of forming the best offer but also to offer a winning environment to Love. So are they the ultimate front runners? And can they acquire Love much sooner than the beginning of the 2014 – 2015 season?

There are two variables in this equation. One of them is Love’s choice. It will be very essential for the team which will trade for Love to secure a long – term deal with him. In other words, don’t expect any team interesting in landing him to trade away some valuable assets without the assurance that a long – term contract will be signed. So, unless Love wants to play for that particular team, it will be difficult for it to acquire him.

The other variable in this equation is the exchange the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to get out of this deal. The Wolves want to sell high at this point and they don’t actually care that much if Love will head to a destination where he will be happy or if he will win rings. All they want is to get the maximum out of this deal, whether this means acquiring one or more capable players, receiving draft picks or a combination of the two.

Whilst Love expressed his desire to play in New York and although he has also been flirting with the Los Angeles Lakers since the beginning of the 2013 – 2014 season, those legendary teams don’t have the assets needed offer to the Wolves as an exchange for Love. The Boston Celtics are not in a much better position either. In fact, it’s the Phoenix Suns, the Golden State Warriors and maybe the Houston Rockets which currently have the most to offer.

Phoenix has six first round picks over the next two drafts and Houston could ship significant value to Minnesota while forming its Big Three with Harden, Howard and Love. Nonetheless, the Golden State Warriors seem to be capable to place the best offer on the table. If they form a deal which will include David Lee, Harrison Barnes and a few other assets, leaving Klay Thompson out of the package, not only will the Wolves will find enough value but they will also form a powerhouse in the West. Just imagine how deadly a starting lineup which would include Love, Thompson, Curry and Iguodala would be. The Dubs will instantly become by far the best three – point shooting team in the NBA and on top of that, Love seems to be a perfect match with Andrew Bogut. With Steve Kerr in the house, Golden State is ready for the beginning of a brand new era.

Kevin Love to the Warriors makes much sense, for every side involved in such a trade.

Rip City Is For Real

Damian Lillard Blazers

Damian Lillard

The 2013-2014 season has been a roller coaster ride for Rip City. After reaching the top of the tough Western Conference early in the season, the Portland Trail Blazers fell to the fifth spot and they also saw their chances to make it to the top reducing. The Blazers entered the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs as the underdogs in their matchups against the Houston Rockets but they managed to eliminate them after six games. Now, they are being dominated by the veteran group of the San Antonio Spurs and their playoff trip might soon reach its end.

However, despite the failure to top the San Antonio Spurs, a task that is of course very difficult for any team around the league, the Blazers’ course during the 2013-2014 campaign is anything but bad. In fact, even if Rip City exits the playoffs in the second round, the entire city should feel proud about this team. After everything the Blazers have gone through and after all those top-player severe injuries, Portland has found a way to turn things around.

In addition, the future looks really bright for this team, given that it has now found the Big Three around which it can build. Damian Lillard showcased his leadership skills not just during the playoffs but even throughout the regular season. The versatile point guard has already reached a superstar level and he is just 23 years old. He and LaMarcus Aldridge are under contract for the next season, with the Blazers holding a team option, which will most probably exercise for the season after and also a qualifying offer for the 2015 – 2016 season. Nicolas Batum is also under contract till the end of the 2015 – 2016 season but what is even more important is the fact that something seems to be changing in Rip City.

The Blazers are finally starting to find their way to success and whilst they still haven’t formed an elite team, they are certainly on the right track. Portland has found its new franchise face, in Damian Lillard and also a truly capable star veteran, in LaMarcus Aldridge, who might just be the perfect fit alongside Lillard. Nicolas Batum is the third wheel of the Blazers’ engine and several analysts compare them to the San Antonio Spurs, stating that the Blazers are a younger version of San Antonio. I couldn’t agree more with this statement and I would go a step further, stating that Damian Lillard will soon have the same essence to Rip City like Kobe Bryant has to the Los Angeles Lakers. Yes, he is that good.

So, summing up, there is absolutely no reason for Blazers fans to feel disappointed with their favorite team this year. The Blazers did what they had to do. They went as far as they could. Now, the fun part begins, as the team will try to further improve during the postseason. We should all expect the Blazers to stay in the forefront of the NBA for the next seasons.
