Hollywood Bowl 2014 Schedule What To Expect

Hollywood Bowl 2014 Season Schedule

Hollywood Bowl

If you enjoy warm summer nights, great music, wine, cheese, outdoors and great musical acts there is only one place to get all of the above, the world famous Hollywood Bowl. Located in the heart of Hollywood on 2301 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles Ca 90068 just minutes off the 101 the Bowl offers some of the most legendary acts, hottest new bands and overall just a wonderful experience and night. The Hollywood Bowl offers so many different types of music there is always something for everyone during their season from Jazz lovers series, the Philharmonic, Rock N Roll, Classic Groups from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and even Musical lovers.

First of the list is Black Sabbath, so, you should be ready to head bang the night away as they blow your mind with one of the best rock music that the music industry has to offer. They are going to be followed by Chic who will also be featuring Giorgio Moroder. They will be on the 10th this May. Journey will also be with the Steve Miller Band. This makes it three concerts in the Bowl performed by bands or a group. So, interested audiences should be ready with a myriad of talents.

Billy Joel Hollywood Bowl

Billy Joel

Billy Joel will also be coming to town for three shows on different days. Be ready to be serenaded by that, but if you are a fan of another great performer in the name of Bruno Mars, then you might want to wait until the end of May and the 1st of June to see him in the Hollywood Bowl. It is a pick between these two artists in the month of May, and if you cannot pick one, then, go to all of their concerts.

Barry Gibb, One Republic, and James Taylor are also coming over for their individual shows – three performances in four nights. What more can a music enthusiast ask for.

The Playboy Jazz Festival with master of Ceremonies George Lopez is always one of my favorite events at the Bowl. Be sure though that you come prepared with everything because this might be a wild one in two consecutive days of some of the best Jazz you have ever heard.

Do not limit your celebration of July 4th on the day. You will be given a treat at the Hollywood Bowl as they celebrate the 4th of July in three days starting on July 2 until July 4. They will be having fireworks in all those days and they will also be featuring Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers and Edie Brickell as their guest.

Philharmonic at Hollywood Bowl

LA Philharmonic

If you are a fan of a group of individuals blending their voices together at perfect pitch with ease, then you might want to listen to the Los Angeles Philharmonic. They will be visiting Hollywood Bowl several times this year performing different pieces. This means you have more choices, and more chances of experience their breathtaking voices.

The Simpsons will also be celebrating its 25th year of airing on television with a three day event starting on the 12th of September. Therefore, if you are one of those who are young at heart, this is one event that you will be looking forward to.

The Hollywood Bowl 2014 Season schedule will not be disappointing you in any way. They have wrapped everything for you. All that is left to do is pick, and rest assured, you will not be disappointed.

David Bowie new song new album and concert in Los Angeles?

David Bowie Los Angeles

David Bowie New Single

We are excited to discover that David Bowie has released his first song in over a decade! The sixty-six year old pop star has let the press know that a follow up album to his song is to be expected in March. Fans of David Bowie are shocked and enthralled by the comeback of David Bowie. The song, Where We Are Now, is sad. David Bowie tackles his age and the span of his career in this stunning video. It echoes the message of facing death. The pain in David Bowie’s video tells a story of aging, of regret, of the toll the music world and fame can and most definitely will take on aging celebrities. The end of this exquisite song has a Bjork look alike leaning on Bowie. The tease that perhaps she will sing lingers over our heads but alas, just as she opens her mouth to utter a sound, the video and song end.

There are rumors that as a part of David Bowie’s upcoming album release, he will be performing at the Los Angeles Staples Center. David Bowie is from Brixton, London and his career impacted the music world in a major way. His work is innovative, his branding distinctive with his metrosexual, bisexual, and eclectic personal style. Bowie is considered 39th on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and 23rd on their list of Best Singers of All Time. He has been married to Supermodel Iman since 1992and they have a daughter. Bowie has won fifteen awards out of forty-five nominations in his career. His 1969 Space Oddity song earned Bowie an Ivor Novello Special Award for Originality. He has also won a Saturn Award for Best Actor after starring in the film The Man Who Fell To Earth. Bowie’s acting career spans nearly thirty projects as an actor alone. He also produces, writes music for film sores, and has cone dozens of documentaries. Bowie has over twenty-five albums to his name. Now you can stay on top of David Bowie’s latest achievements by visiting www.BarrysTickets.com 24 hours a day. NEW YORK Barbra Streisand Review

Barbra Steisand Review of NY Concert

Barbra Steisand Review of NY Concert

NEW YORK – Barbra Streisand was visiting the new Barclays Center and was happily singing to her Brooklyn roots. Thursday’s performance was at least three-hours and a signature move for returning to her hometown. The “Back to Brooklyn” tour will be coming up on Saturday.

Barbra is one of the music industry’s most successful performers — selling more than 140 million albums worldwide (71.5 million in the U.S. alone). The RIAA says that Streisand holds the sought-after record for the most top-ten albums by any female recording artist. She’s locked up a total of 31 top-ten albums since 1963. So obviously, coming home to Brooklyn is a pretty big deal.

Although Streisand is now 70 years old, that didn’t stop the 18,000+ crowd from showing up to see her in her flowing skirt and black blazer. She sang many of the classics, including “The Way We Were”, “Evergreen” and the very popular “People”. As she held the microphone with both hands to show that she still had the voice, the crowd went wild. At one point, she said “Hello Brooklyn,” and the crowd erupted.

To compliment the great vocal performance, Streisand told jokes and responded to the screams from the passionate audience. A video played on the big screen depicting people from Streisand’s neighborhood who discussed their experiences with the singer — pointing out her personality traits, talents, and even prominent body parts — particularly her nose.

She exclaimed “I left Brooklyn to pursue my dreams and Brooklyn never quite left me.” The legend of a singer wowed the audience and often carried on conversations or poked jokes at fans. The people laughed and seemed to have an incredible time cheering her on.

The light show was fantastic and the orchestral group played in a pit by the stage. As she strolled around the stage, the visuals of purple and blue lights adorned the stage and orchestra. Although Streisand is older now, she was performing both while sitting and standing, at times she would break to answer questions from fans who had submitted questions before the show. Apparently, the audience was curious about her thoughts on lip syncing. She replied, “I’ve heard about that. I could never do it because I’m so bad at it.”. The crowded laughed and overall it was a really great time.

It would seem that politics came into the picture a bit when she made a comment about “Big Bird” — referring to the Romney vs Obama battle.

Streisand was complimented by fellow trumpet player Chris Botti and her son Jason Gould. Jason at one point earned an ovation, with the crowd standing up on their feet. The ovation was greet by Jason’s mother saying “Oh my God”.

Barbra referenced Donna Summer by performing a song they sang together called “No More Tears”. She also gave a tribute to composer Marvin Hamlisch — her late friend by singing, “The Way We Were”.

One of the best moments of the night was when she referenced another Brooklyn artist, Jay-Z. She changed some of the lyrics of her song “You’re the Top” by saying Jay-Z lyrics like “You’re a Brooklyn Net, on a private jet”, which made some of the younger crowd quite enthused.

Overall, Streisand really overwhelmed the audience who seemed satisfied and yearning for more. The “Back to Brooklyn” tour continues… on November 9th Barbara Streisand will preform at the Hollywood Bowl.

Mumford and Sons rock the LC Pavilion in Portsmouth

Mumford & Sons LC Pavilion in Portsmouth

Mumford & Sons rock LC Pavilion in Portsmouth

Thousands of fans watched the Mumford and Sons concert last August 14 at the LC Pavilion in Portsmouth. The venue for the concert was move to the parking lot outside the Pavillion for them to accommodate fans eager to watch the band perform turning it into a “festival” setting. A fence around the perimeter with beer stations everywhere and a burrito bus called Late Nite Slice. Also, a large screen was placed next to the main stage and another in the middle of the lot about halfway back. The black-and-white videography on those screens was great and the sound was robust.

The band opened the show with their song “Lover’s Eyes”. It was played with minimal instruments and when it came to the chorus part the music and harmonies sync with the lights flashing around the stage.

For their second song, the band played the “Little Lion Man” followed by “I Will Wait” their lead single from their new album. Mumford & Sons uses bluegrass and folk instrumentation complete with banjo picking and a stomping rhythm with a rhythmic style based in alternative rock and folk.

“Lover of the Light” a song from the band’s upcoming album “Babel,” is more aggressive than the tunes on “Sigh No More.” The crowd’s response was so intense when the choruses surged and the rhythm stomped. You can see the audience jumping and clapping a little longer than just a minute or so at the chorus due to the high-octane rock energy from the band.

The played some of their hit songs such as “Roll Away your stone”, “White blank page” and “Awake my Soul”. The encore began with the song “Where are you now?” followed by “Winter Winds’ and “The Cave” for the finale.

The English folk rock band Mumford and Sons consist of Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, accordion, drums), “Country” Winston Marshall (vocals, banjo, dobro, guitar), and Ted Dwane (vocals, string bass, drums, guitar). The band is currently touring the US to promote their second album Babel due for release next month. The band’s debut album Sigh No More sold more than 2 million copies which earned them two Grammy nominations.

Mumford and Sons will be at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on November 10th and 12th.

Review of the Los Angeles Staples Center

Downtown Los Angeles Staples Center

Downtown Los Angeles Staples Center

The Staples Center is positioned in the heart of downtown Los Angles, so it is accessible from most significant freeways. It was rapidly built on an 18 month schedule at a price of roughly $300 million. While the seating differs for other tenants such as the Lakers and Clippers , the LA Kings seating potential is listed at 18,118.

The main factor this isn’t Five stars is that there are virtually no decent food choices here. But with LOS ANGELES Live just across Chick Hearn Ct., they are thankfully not too far away. As for the typical claims about this place:

Parking
Those lots with the guys waving the flags, advertising $20 and $25 parking? Those are for visitors!! The Pico Station of the Metro Blue line is ONE BLOCK from the Staples Center. And the Pico Station is ONE STATION away from the 7th/Metro station, that connects you to the Purple and Red Lines.

There isn’t a reason you must park close to Staples Center and pay the exorbitant fees. Even if you can not take the train all the way in, it’s worth finding parking closer to 7th/Metro Center and taking the train down one stop. Additionally, you’ll be outside of the cluster trying to get back on the freeway at 8th or Olympic after the show.

DRINKS
You are going to spend $9 for a beer and nearly as much for red wine. This is pretty common. You’ll find some more elaborate alcoholic options at the Harbor or Figueroa Bars found near each of the main entrances of the building.

Atmosphere
Before fans even set foot on the terrazzo floors in the arena, a rather fascinating vibe is produced from simply walking around the arena and taking in the sights at LA Live. For any given game, you’ll find crowds around the arena taking photos of the statues and trying to get their faces on many of the live tapings outside of the gates. Once the lights dim, fans will see the players walking through a makeshift castle on their way to the ice. The intros are rather long with all sorts of images being shown on the ice, green laser beams illuminating the arena, and a energetic chant of “Go Kings Go” to start off the action.

With numerous transplants in the LA area, you will find many opposing fans originally from different regions attending the games. This leads to some fantastic banter during the game and seems to engage the Kings fans even more. It creates an enjoyable ambiance from the first drop of the puck. The LA fans have had a great showing recently at the Staples Center, making a guest team game a tough ticket to come by. Of all LA-based professional sporting events, the fans here seem to be in their seats for gametime.

Service
Those individuals in the maroon jackets have been extremely effective every time I’ve needed them. On the latest visit, one guy even walked us nearly a quarter around the Center in search of some special masks that had been handed out to prior arrivals.

Lineup
Okay, any artist that performs at the Staples Center will likely be high class. We’ve also got our pro basketball and hockey teams. The Hollywood Bowl is, in my opinion, the only other venue in Los Angeles that brings in the heavy hitting headliner shows.. No, they’re not the personal shows that will allow you to get up close and personal with the performer.

You can go to the Greek, the Gibson, the Forum, the Home Depot Center, or perhaps hop next door to the Nokia Theater, but playing Staples Center is truly an achievement for any performer. We were there recently for Kaskade to not only be the first EDM artist to headline, but also to sell out, Staples Center.

Conclusion
Staples Center was the very first arena in sports to become the long term home of three professional sports teams. While the setting between a hockey game and basketball game are vastly various, the turnover rate to change one to another is rather outstanding. Appreciate the Staples Center for what it is: A Los Angeles landmark and an indelible part of the city’s history.

If you can’t stand expensive parking and costly beverages, but you love stars, basketball games, and people-watching, then I have 3 words for you: WELCOME TO LOS ANGELES.

– Chris Mattos
