It all started in 1996 when two guys from England wanted to start a band. Over the next two years, along with adding bandmates, the name changed from Pectoralz to Starfish to finally, Coldplay.
Coldplay is one of the most world-renowned, successful bands of its time. With a reach of millions of listeners in countries all over the world, this group made up of four Englishmen brings the entertainment and freedom of music to every arena. From “Sparks” to “Clocks” to “Viva La Vida”, Coldplay is one of the hottest musical groups ever to perform.
But this group is not only musically talented, they also perform at numerous charity benefits and concerts and bring attention to important causes all over the world. According to this charitable celebrity website, Coldplay has supported over 25 charities over the years.
Let’s face it, these guys would have certainly been voted the “Best All-Around” superlative in high school. Here are just a few fun facts about one of our favorite bands:
•Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland were college buddies at University College London.
•Will Champion had no previous experience as a drummer before joining Coldplay.
•Parachutes, their first album, was recorded in four different studios.
•Paradise is Coldplay’s best-selling single, selling over 410,000 copies.
So, the next time you’re in a mood to listen to some good, chill music, turn on Coldplay. Not only will it not disappoint, but you will find yourself experiencing the musical genius of one of the best pop/rock groups of the decade.
