Chicago Sports: The 2015 Chicago Cubs: Look Out Cardinals, Here Come The Cubbies

2015 promises to be another exciting year in Chicago sports, particularly baseball, where both the Chicago Cubs Tickets and White Sox Tickets made significant roster moves to put themselves back into contention. Let’s take a look at some of the Chicago Cubs’ acquisitions this past offseason and how they will help the team return to the top of the National League Central in 2015:

Jon Lester: The signings of Lester and new manager Joe Maddon were the two biggest moves the Cubs made this past offseason and will have a large impact on the team’s fortunes this year. Over the past nine years, Lester has established himself as one of Major League Baseball’s most dependable, rock-solid, high-achieving starting pitchers. A three-time All Star Tickets and two-time World Series champion with a career record of 116 wins, 67 losses and a 3.58 earned run average, Lester will lead a rotation that also includes young phenom Jake Arrieta, Jason Hammel, and Kyle Hendricks.

Miguel Montero: Acquired in a trade from the Diamondbacks Tickets, Montero is a two-time all star catcher with 97 career home runs. He will be a solid addition to the lineup, which includes first baseman and young star Anthony Rizzo and shortstop Starlin Castro.

Jason Hammel: Hammel, who pitched for the Cubs in 2014 before being traded to Oakland, boasts a solid career record of 245 wins and 187 losses; before being traded to the Athletics Tickets last year, he won eight games for the Cubs with a 2.98 earned run average. He’ll be a solid fixture behind ace Jon Lester.

Joe Maddon: Maddon, one of baseball’s most respected managers, was one of the Cubs’ earliest signings this past offseason. He is most noted for managing the Tampa Bay Rays Tickets from 2006 to 2014, rising them up from being the laughingstock of baseball to the American League championship in 2008 and playoff contention in subsequent seasons. Maddon is a two time Manager of the Year winner and will lead a Cubs team that looks to unseat the St. Louis Cardinals Tickets, perennial National League Central division winners.

The Chicago Cubs fans have responded favorably to the possibility of a successful season this year as well. Chicago Cubs ticket price average this season is $53.00 per ticket which is up 15.2% from last seasons average price of $46.00 per ticket.

White Sox Roster A Team On The Rise

2015 promises to be an exciting year in the Chicago sports world. Major League Baseball’s regular season opens April 5, and both Chicago baseball teams made a number of deals this past offseason to improve their teams. Let’s take a look at the moves the White Sox roster improvements, Chicago’s beloved South Side club, made this past winter, moves that may very well allow them to contend in the American League Central this coming season:

The Chicago White Sox Roster

– Jeff Samardzija: Samardzija, who pitched in Chicago with the Cubs for six and a half seasons prior to joining the Sox, boasts a career 3.85 earned-run average and, despite a record of 7 wins against 13 losses last year, made the All-Star Team. He’ll join a starting rotation that also includes Chris Sale (arguably one of the top 3 starting pitchers in all of baseball), Jose Quintana, Hector Noesi, and John Danks.

– David Robertson: The Sox’s acquisition of Robertson was a big blow to the New York Yankees, his former employer, a team on which he served as the successor to arguably the greatest relief pitcher in baseball history, Mariano Rivera. Last season, Robertson saved 39 games for the Yanks and struck out 96 hitters in 64 and 1/3 innings, cementing his status as one of the game’s elite relief specialists.

– Zach Duke: After bouncing around a few different teams the past several years in mixed roles, former rookie phenom Duke had an outstanding year as a relief pitcher with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2014, finishing the year with a 2.45 earned run average and 74 strikeouts in 58 and 2/3 innings. He’ll be an important addition to a bullpen led by Robertson.

– Adam LaRoche: LaRoche was a key component of the Washington Nationals‘ success over the past several years; last year, he whacked 26 home runs and drove in 92 runs for the MLB National League East champions. With 243 career home runs and playoff experience developed on a number of competitive teams, LaRoche brings a solid bat and leadership experience to the White Sox.

– Melky Cabrera: Cabrera is coming off a great season with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he hit .301 with 16 home runs. Cabrera is a two-time World Series champion, having won in 2009 with the New York Yankees and 2012 with the San Francisco Giants and a solid hitter and defender.

With these players complimenting a strong core, the White Sox look to be contenders in 2015, and now’s a great time to nab some tickets to see them play. Contact us to get your seats to see the “Pale Hose” play ball.

Why it’s a great time to check out the White Sox Roster in action?
Chicago White Sox tickets on the secondary market are at one of the lowest price per ticket on average in four years. In the 2011 White Sox tickets averaged $73.00 per ticket for home games. Currently White Sox tickets average $33.00 per ticket.

With additions to the White Sox Roster this season look for things to start jelling around mid season which is a perfect opportunity for the Sox to start on a run. If the additions and the rest of the White Sox roster can stay healthy they could be the snake in the grass at the end of the season and be a strong playoff contender.
