Blake Griffin and Joakim Noah the two top black horses for the MVP award

Clippers Blake Griffin Bulls Joakim Noah

BLAKE & JOAKIM

There is no denying that the MVP title is a two-man one this year. LeBron James and Kevin Durant will be apparently fighting chest to chest till the end of the season for the award and at the moment, things look really tight. However, it’s worth taking a look at some of the black horses of this race. Although several players have been involved into the discussion for the MVP award this season, at the moment, Blake Griffin and Joakim Noah are the two best underdogs.

Noah is the main reason the Chicago Bulls have managed not only to save the 2013-2014 season but to also emerge up to the third spot in the Eastern Conference. The Frenchman center is doing it all for his team at the moment, playing defense, scoring, dishing assists and rebounding. Although Noah has literally no chances to make it to the top of list of MVP candidates, as LeBron and KD are playing in a whole different level, he is one of the most over performing players this season.

LA Clippers Blake Griffin

BLAKE

If there is one player who deserves to be considered as a third strong candidate for the MVP award this season, that is Blake Griffin. The highflying forward has not only improved his game in almost any aspect but he has also emerged as the true leader of the Los Angeles Clippers, taking the team on his shoulders during the time Chris Paul was out with an injury.

Griffin is averaging 24 points per contest, almost three more than his career-average and he is also securing 9.6 rebounds and dishing out 3.6 assists, while shooting 53.2 percent from the floor. He just recently got hurt, during the Clips’ last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he is projected to return to action soon and be ready for the Clips’ playoff push. Despite Griffin’s improvement, he will still not be able to reach the duo of LeBron and Durant.

LeBron is recording a career-best 57.0 percent shooting from the field and he is also putting up 26.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game, which are too much for Griffin to get close. Durant is also recording similarly impressive numbers, maybe even more impressive. He is leading the NBA in scoring with 32.2 points per game and he is also putting up 7.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists. His shooting is also great but slightly lower than LeBron’s rates, 51.2 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from deep.
The MVP race will be coming to its end soon and we will see either Durant or LeBron earning the crown. However, we also have to recognize the efforts of players like Griffin and Noah. Chris M

Can The Clippers Beat The Spurs?

Heading down the stretch in the Western Conference playoff race the Los Angeles Clippers are solidly in third place with potential to surpass the Oklahoma City Thunder for second place. Like the first place Spurs the Clippers are peaking at the right time, with victories in 12 of their last 13 games. Following their upcoming five game road trip the Clippers can finish off the season at STAPLES Center, heading into the playoffs with the potential to win as many as 60 games. Now the dominant team in Los Angeles the Clippers head into the postseason with big expectations. With consecutive Pacific Division titles and a loaded roster anything less than a deep run into the Western Conference playoffs would be a disappointment for the franchise. From the acquisition of Doc Rivers to the building of a deep bench the Clippers organization has made the moves necessary to contend for a title. The two teams in the Clippers way, the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, are veteran laden clubs with championship pedigree. Both have reached the finals the past two seasons. While the Thunder took a tiny step back with the trade of James Harden and the injury to Russell Westbrook, the Clippers look ready to make the ascent and challenge San Antonio.

Here are five reasons the Clippers will knock off the San Antonio Spurs:

LA Clippers Vs Spurs

DOC & GREG

Doc Rivers: Look no further than San Antonio and Greg Popovich for a perfect example of the impact of head coaching in the NBA. The Spurs are an outstanding organization with multiple future Hall of Famers, but they also have arguably the best head coach in professional sports. In seeking Doc Rivers to replace Vinny Del Negro the Clippers significantly improved at the head coaching position. The presence of Rivers has improved the Clippers significantly on the defensive end of the court. The Clippers are currently 6th in the NBA defensive rankings, giving up just 101.5 points per game and 4th in effective field goal percentage, behind Miami, San Antonio and the Houston Rockets. It’s an old adage that defense wins championships, but the adage holds true in the NBA.

LA Clippers Vs Spurs Tickets

BLAKE

The Evolution of Blake Griffin: In the past three months Blake Griffin has gone from a player that many around the NBA still questioned as an elite star, to a potential MVP candidate. When Chris Paul went down with an injury early in 2014 Griffin went on a tear and carried the team on his back until Paul returned. The former top overall pick is playing the best basketball of his career and will give the Spurs fits in the playoffs. Griffin has turned into the dependable post option that the Clippers need to contend for a title.

Clippers Spurs LA Staples Center

DEANDRE

Youth: Based on the past few seasons the idea of writing off the Spurs due to the age of Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili would be a major mistake. Popovich has masterfully managed the roster this season, somehow locking up the likely top overall seed while managing to not play a single player more than 30 minutes per game. This strategy has preserved the legs of veterans Duncan, Parker and Ginobili. The big question is whether or not this regular season strategy can translate to the playoffs. If Duncan, Parker and Ginobili are forced to play big minutes come postseason the Clippers relative depth and youth should be a factor.

The Clippers Bench: Over the past several seasons one of the secrets to the Spurs success has been their bench strength. They’ve done an incredible job finding and developing young talent to play alongside their veteran core. The Clippers bench depth, more than any other team in the Western Conference, rivals that of the Spurs. During the recent trade deadline the Clippers made moves to acquire Glen Davis and Danny Granger, to provide even more assistance to a unit that includes Matt Barnes, Jamal Crawford, Darren Collison and Jared Dudley. As a result the Clippers boast a reserve until every bit as deep as San Antonio.

Spurs Vs LA Clippers

CHRIS

Chris Paul: The secret to the Spurs success over the past five seasons is the play of point guard Tony Parker. While Tim Duncan has taken a secondary role Parker has assumed the role of the go-to player in the lineup. His combination of speed and quickness makes him incredibly hard to guard and helps drive the Spurs offense. In the 28 games the two have played against each other during their NBA careers the matchup has essentially been a standstill. Parker and the Spurs have won 18 of the 28 matchups, largely due to the dominance of the Spurs during Paul’s years with the Hornets. Parker has struggled with nagging injuries the past two seasons and the presence of Paul will make Parker work at both ends of the court, expending important energy on the defensive end.

It would be a giant mistake to write the Spurs off after the dominant regular seasons they’ve had the past two years and the deep playoff run they made in 2013, but Duncan and Ginobili are a year older and their ability to continually answer the bell has to come to an end at some point. The Clippers are peaking at the right time and should have what it takes to upset San Antonio in the Western Conference playoffs.Chris Michaels.

Should Blake Griffin be the MVP this season?

Should Blake Griffin Be MVP

Griffin For MVP

The race for the MVP title this season is a close one, a very close one. The two obvious favorites are LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Those two megastars have been recording tremendous outputs this season. However, there is one more superstar who is playing like an MVP, who has dramatically improved his production and efficiency from last season and he is a candidate for the MVP award. That’s no other than Blake Griffin.

First of all, Griffin has been playing in a great level all season long, much like the entire Los Angeles Clippers have been doing. The presence of Doc Rivers at the team’s bench meant a big change for Lob City. Discipline and more effort on defense are two new facts that were missing from the Clips’ style of play last year. Griffin also looks like a different, a more mature player right now with Doc Rivers guiding him.

Should Blake Griffin Be MVP

Griffin

This season, he is putting up numbers above his career-averages. The dominant power forward is averaging a team-best 24.4 points per contest to go along with 9.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 53.9 percent from the field. He has even hit some threes. Griffin is the main wheel for the Clippers on the offensive end. In most possessions the ball runs through him. But even when it doesn’t Griffin contributes by setting great screens or by drawing the attention from the opposing defense. Griffin has improved his mid-range shot significantly and he has also managed to shoot better from the charity stripe. Of course, he continues to be a great rebounder and shot blocker. His defense still isn’t at a world-class level, but he has seen some improvement there, too.

Up to now, Blake Griffin was arguably the most spectacular player in the league. Now, he is also one of the best ones. He is currently considered as the best power forward in the NBA and his performance every night shows why.

NBA MVP Blake Griffin

MVP?

When the Los Angeles Clippers needed him to step up and take the team on his shoulders, he responded to the call. With Chris Paul out for an extended time, Griffin really took his performance to the next level. He emerged as the true leader of the team and he managed to lead the Clips to some significant wins. It’s notable that LA didn’t drop in the Western Conference rankings despite Paul’s absence.

Of course, the competition for Blake Griffin is huge. It will be almost impossible for him to reach the monster seasons LeBron and Durant are recording. Those two have been simply playing to a whole different level. But if there is one player who could threaten them this season, that is Blake Griffin. Stephen Curry could also be in the discussion.

Griffin has been instrumental in the Clippers recent run of a nine game win streak. On Monday night, Griffin became just the third player in NBA history to tally 6,000 points, 3,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists before the end of his fourth season while shooting 50.0 percent or better. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Charles Barkley, Blake Griffin and that’s it.

LA Clippers Blake Griffin deserves respect

Griffin

Why Blake won’t win MVP? One reason…the Clippers! The local community college team gets more respect then them. They play home games on what is considered the Lakers home court no matter what, Lakers Home Venue and Lakers City. Just ask any Lakers fan. Although they have been gaining respect little by little over the last four years and Clippers ticket prices have slightly increased they are always in the shadow of the Lakers and might not ever come out of it. Blake and Lob City are like the Cleveland Browns they don’t get the NBA spotlight on Sunday’s they don’t make page on of USA Today even though Blake has some of the best dunks of all time just ask Kim Kardashian’s ex husband. When you mention the Clippers to NBA fans they look at you like your insane talking about them. Would Blake winning MVP bring instant credibility to the Clippers and Clippers Nation? I don’t think so but to not be mentioned in the MVP talk for his numbers this season is showing what lack of respect Blake and the Clipper Nation actually get.

I am not saying throw your Kobe or Lakers Jerseys away or the Clippers deserve the respect that the Lakers, Celtics, Miami Heat or Spurs deserve or even Tim Duncan or Dirk Nowitzki but Blake is only in his fourth year and has helped turned the once a joke Clippers into a legit NBA Championship contender and is mentioned in the same breath as one of the greatest to ever play the game in only four years he deserves a second look for MVP this season. Rent In Lob City Actually Higher Then LA For The First Time

Lob City LA Clippers

Lob City

Which came first the Sport or the Team? You love basketball and you love the Lakers, Clippers, Bulls, Thunder or whoever but which was your first love? So which came first your love of basketball the game itself or the love of a team that got you into the sport basketball?

For years now I have offered friends, family, strangers Clippers Tickets as an inexpensive way to watch a pro basketball game even if for years they were treated like a junior college team play against one of the other NBA’s finest and for years I always got the same response “umm do you have any free Lakers Tickets”? If the Lakers were playing the Bucks and the Clippers were playing the Michael Jordon, Lebron, Kevin Durante and maybe the Lord himself 99 out of 100 friends and family would still take the Lakers. So it has to be about the TEAM itself right and not about the love of the game.

Los Angeles Clippers

Chris Deandre Blake

The truth is that history in sports has its own gravity, its special weight. No matter if a team is struggling during a season, like the Los Angeles Lakers are, the name of the franchise and its history in the league are enough to keep the team’s value at high levels. Nonetheless, this season we are witnessing a radical change in the balance between the two LA teams.

In fact, the Los Angeles Clippers can be characterized as the better product for the city of LA at the moment. They are the ones selling more, they are the ones that almost any fan in LA but also around the globe wants to watch. On the contrary, the Lakers are dead last in the West, they are playing awful basketball, they are lacking their superstar, Kobe Bryant and if we had to characterize them with one word, that one would be “decomposed”.

Blake Griffin LA Clippers Super Star

Griffin

It’s no secret that the Clippers are one of the most spectacular teams in the NBA, if not the most spectacular one. With Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan conquering the air and with Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford adding to the Clips’ stardom, Doc Rivers’s group is one of the hottest teams around the league. After their recent acquisitions, the Clippers are now considered to be one of the two strongest favorites for the title in the West, together with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

On the contrary, Lakers fans have all the rights to feel disappointed with their product. It’s not just about their awful record and not just about the fact that Kobe Bryant has missed all but six games this season. The Lakers seem like they have no plan, neither for this season nor for the next one. Lacking a bunch of draft picks over the next couple of years, the team is forced to carry the burden of the contract of the 40-year old Steve Nash, who is doubtful to ever be able to play the game again.

Chris Paul & Blake Griffin

CP3 & Griffin

All the above translate into a change in the “product value” for each team. On the one hand, the Clips are on the rise. On the other hand, a legendary team like the Lakers is tanking badly. Taking a look at the pricing of the tickets of each team in a game against the same opponent, the difference is obvious. The

Although face value of Lakers tickets is significantly higher then that of the Clippers the retail value has always reflected the same pricing until this year the Clippers retail Ticket prices for a game like Clippers Vs Thunder Tickets are just passed double the price of Lakers Vs Thunder Tickets. This is pretty much the first time in the history of the Clippers that their retail prices are higher then the Lakers.

Playoff Preview Between Clippers and Warriors

Warriors Vs Clippers Tickets

Warriors Vs Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers will host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, March 12. The game is projected to be spectacular and really fun to watch. The Clippers are one of the best in the NBA when it comes to providing moments of joy to the home crowd, thanks to the highflying from Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. On the other hand, the Warriors have the best shooting duo in the league, in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and if they start firing it up from outside they are really tough to be stopped.

The game will be difficult for either team but it will also be a statement one. The two teams could meet in the playoffs and even during the first round. The Clips currently rank fourth in the Western Conference but thanks to their recent additions and their great outputs, they have the potential to climb even higher. On the other hand, the Dubs currently occupy the sixth spot in the conference and they are projected to finish the regular season somewhere around that spot. This means they could face the Clippers in the first round. That’s why this game is so important.

Clippers Vs Warriors Tickets

Lob City

The Clips will have to make a good job defending their perimeter and also pick and roll situations. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson need just fractions of seconds before they get a shot up and sink it to the basket. The battle between David Lee and Blake Griffin will be an interesting one and a key to the outcome of the game. Griffin is the scoring leader for the Clips this season. If Lee manages to contain him below his season-averages, then the Dubs will greatly increase their chance to escape with a victory.

LA’s latest additions are certainly going to be a factor in this game, too. The Clips will need Danny Granger and Glen Davis to contribute, each one on the sector he’s best at. The Golden State Warriors’ reserves have just recently uplifted their performance and the Clips will have to make sure they can match the surge from their opponents. The Clips are expected to have Jamal Crawford back, who stayed out of action in the least two games due to a calf injury. Crawford’s contribution will certainly be a factor in the outcome of the game. The veteran guard is the second-leading scorer for LA this season. Chris Paul is also gradually getting his game back.

LA Clippers Vs Warriors

Griffin

The certainty is that this game will be exciting to watch for all the fans in the arena. As the both teams battle for the battle for top 5 spots in the western conference playoffs, we’ll certainly see some devastating dunks from Griffin and the rest of the highflyers, but we’re also expected to a bunch of threes going down. This will end up being a high-scoring game.

As of today the Clippers are sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference with 5th place Portland Trail Blazers only a half a game back which makes this Clippers Vs Warriors game that much more important as a possible preview of the first round playoffs. Is Danny Granger the Clippers Missing Piece?

LA Clippers Danny Granger

Danny Granger

The Philadelphia 76ers just recently announced that they agreed on a buyout with forward Danny Granger, who was acquired by the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen. Granger is now set to become a free-agent and the Los Angeles Clippers appear to be the frontrunners for his acquisition. So what can he really bring to the team? Is he the missing piece for the team on its championship run?

First of all, it’s obvious that Danny Granger was under performing this season. Playing at the shadow of the emerging megastar Paul George and after he experienced a bunch of injuries, Granger was not the player he once used to be this season. The Indiana Pacers were no longer his team. The former All-Star played in 29 games this season and started in just a couple of them. He averaged 8.3 points per contest go to along with 3.6 rebounds and he shot a ugly rates, 35.9 percent from the floor and 33.0 percent from downtown. However, he has the potential to bounce back and uplift his performance.

Danny Granger Clippers

Danny Granger

Granger seems to be a perfect fit in the Clips’ playoff puzzle. If he is acquired by the team, he will most probably be assigned with the starting small forward role. Granger has the size and the athletic skills to be a great perimeter threat, which can also drive to the basket. Of course, he is not as explosive as he once was, but after all, the Clippers don’t need him to be that type of a player.

Thankfully, the Clips have Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, who will continue to take the biggest chunk of the offensive load on their shoulders. So where Granger is needed is to spot up and hit some open shots, especially from beyond the arc. In general, Granger will be a big upgrade in the Clippers wing. That’s because Doc Rivers is currently using Matt Barnes at the starting small forward role. Although Barnes is a serviceable forward, he is not a big scoring threat, especially from downtown. His fellow small forward, Jarred Dudley, who was acquired during the past summer has been struggling to find consistency all season long. In fact, he was demoted to a reserve, after starting for the Clippers earlier in the season.

In conclusion, we can fairly say that Danny Granger is certainly a missing piece for the Los Angeles Clippers. He might not be the player who will take the team by the hand and lead it to the championship. However, after the addition of Glen Davis, the Los Angeles Clippers have the opportunity to add yet another piece in their puzzle. Granger is the best player available out there at the moment and the Clips shouldn’t let this opportunity slip off their hands. Granger will be an essential player come playoff time for Doc Rivers.

CP3 Returns To Clippers Lineup

The Los Angeles Clippers had an outstanding finish to the week, welcoming back Chris Paul in the process. After losing to Denver and Miami to start the week the Clippers rebounded with consecutive victories over Toronto and Philadelphia, the latter marking the return of Chris Paul. The Clippers star point guard returned earlier than expected, helping the Clippers blow out the 76ers 123-78.

Blake Griffin has monster Dunks

Blake Griffin

Week Recap: The Clippers kicked off a week with a visit to Denver to take on the Nuggets at Pepsi Center. Blake Griffin had another massive game but the Nuggets pulled out the victory on Randy Foye’s three point shot at the buzzer. Foye’s deep three pointer came just six seconds after Matt Barnes hit a three on the other end of the court to give the Clippers a 115-113 lead. Griffin, playing the best basketball of his career in the absence of Paul had 36 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Following the tough defeat in Denver the Clippers had the tough task of returning home to STAPLES Center to face Lebron James and the Miami Heat. The NBA was treated to one of its best games of the season as James and Griffin put together tremendous individual performances. The Clippers made a valiant effort to overcome a big Miami third quarter lead, but they couldn’t quite make it all the way back. The story for the Clippers was Griffin who had a season-high 43 points in the loss. It was Miami’s first win at STAPLES Center in six seasons. James had 31 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds for Miami. It was a tough second consecutive loss for the Clippers, putting them a half a game behind the Houston Rockets for the fourth playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Clippers rebounded from the Miami loss with consecutive victories over Eastern Conference foes, Toronto and Philadelphia. Saturday night Blake Griffin again scored over 30 times, this time with 36, to become the first Clippers player ever to score more than 30 in three straight games. The Clippers momentum continued into Sunday night when they scored an incredible 46 first quarter points en route to easily defeating the 76ers behind another strong performance from Blake Griffin.

LA Clippers Vs Blazers

Clippers Vs Blazers

The Week Ahead: The Clippers have a light schedule heading into next week’s All Star weekend with just one game, an important matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. The Blazers are currently a game and a half on top of the Clippers for the third playoff spot in the west. Los Angeles is a half a game ahead of the Houston Rockets, currently on a five-game winning streak. Following the All Star Break the Clippers return home for a key game versus the San Antonio Spurs before heading off on a three-game road stretch that includes a key game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Over the next two weeks the Clippers will face each of the three teams ahead of them in the Western Conference standings, giving them an opportunity to make up ground. Chris Michaels.

Lebron For Griffin Say What?

Lebron James Blake Griffin

Lebron for Griffin

Miami Heat superstar Lebron James has the ability to exercise an early out clause in his contract this offseason and potentially leave Miami in free agency. Up until know the speculation regarding a potential opt-out by James has been centered on a return to Cleveland. With the Cavaliers a mess the odds of James returning to his original team are a long shot. Over the past week a new potential James destination has become a popular talking point. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who’s covered James since his high school days and throughout his NBA career, believes the Los Angeles Clippers could wind up being a serious contender for James. According to Windhorst the Heat are “quite aware the Clippers could end up being a competitor if James elects to opt out, perhaps the most serious contender of all.”

According to Windhorst James has a strong relationship with Chris Paul and Doc Rivers. Paul is the godfather of James’s son Bryce and the two stood up in each other’s wedding. The Clippers would have to make personnel moves in order to acquire James with a sign and trade, potentially built around Blake Griffin.

Griffin Lebron Trade

Griffin for Lebron trade?

Wednesday night in Los Angeles hoops fans were treated to a show by the two main parties involved in the speculation when the Heat outlasted the Clippers for a 116-112 victory. James had 31 points 8 rebounds and 12 assists in the victory, with Griffin putting together one of the most dominant performances in his NBA career. The Clippers forward had 43 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. It was yet another exemplary performance for the Clippers big man who’s elevated his game to the next level during the absence of Chris Paul. During the month of January Griffin averaged 25.7 points per game with an impressive .554 shooting percentage. His foul shooting, once a weakness, has improved as the season has gone on with Griffin shooting near 70% from the free throw line. Griffin is in the top ten in Player Efficiency Rating at 23.92, a career high. At twenty-four Griffin is clearly taking his game to the next level, with many touting him as a potential most improved player.

Lebron James will turn 30 during the next NBA season. While the four-time MVP has shown no signs of wear and tear he’s played an incredible amount of games during the past several years due deep playoff runs and international basketball. If Los Angeles does trade a package involving Blake Griffin for James they’ll be dealing a young star on the ascendency for one of the greatest players in league history who could potentially be starting the downside of his career. The opportunity to acquire one of the greatest players in the history of basketball to pair with Chris Paul is awful appealing, but is one or two potential title runs worth dealing a young superstar like Griffin? Here are the pros and cons of the deal.

Why a potential deal makes sense for Los Angeles: It’s no secret that Chris Paul wants to win an NBA title now. The star point guard has dealt with injury issues throughout his career and may not have that many prime years left. James has never had the luxury of playing with an elite point guard like Paul. The combination of the two, along with the presence of Doc Rivers and the remaining Clippers core could make the team instant favorites in the west. Windows of opportunity can be fleeting in the NBA and the chance to make a couple of title runs should be awful appealing to Clippers management. The impact on the Clippers brand can also not be exaggerated. Even with the criticism James earned following the famous “Decision” he’s one of the most recognizable athletes in the world. Beyond the obvious success on the court the presence of James would be a tremendous asset from a business perspective.

Trade between Miami Heat and Clippers

Lebron James Blake Griffin

Why the deal doesn’t make sense: With the amount of mileage both Paul and James have there is no guarantee of health. If Paul continues to miss time due to injury and the seemingly unbreakable James starts to wear down the Clippers could find themselves in a difficult situation. Paul hasn’t played over 70 games in a season while a member of the Clippers, and he’ll have played 60 games or fewer in two of those three seasons. If the Clippers have the opportunity to deal Lebron James for Blake Griffin its likely an absolute no-brainer but not as much of a sure thing as it was at the beginning of the season. Griffin’s play this season, especially in the absence of Paul, indicates that he’s clearly taking his game to the next level. With the sheer athleticism that Griffin possesses there’s no telling how far he can take his game. He’ll never be the equivalent of Lebron James, but may surpass an older James in the next couple of seasons, something the Clippers are going to have to consider.

Right now the Clippers need to focus on the postseason and beyond. The rumor is that Paul will return in the next week, once-again healthy and ready to the second half push. Chris Michaels

Kobe and Blake both 2014 NBA All Star Game Starters

Kobe Bryant Blake Giffin

Kobe and Blake

Kobe Bryant played just six games in the 2013-2014 season and his performance reminded little of the dominant superstar we all know the Black Mamba is. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop NBA fans from voting him as a starter for the 2014 All-Star game.

This will be Kobe’s 16th appearance in an All-Star game. Of course, it’s still uncertain if Kobe will be able to play. The 35-year old megastar is still rehabbing from his knee injury and the latest word from the Los Angeles Lakers states that he will be re-evaluated over the next few days.

Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors earned his spot in the All-Star game this season. In fact, there was much criticism around the league because of his non-selection last year. The 25-year old sharpshooter has been recording a terrific season up to now, showing us more of the same lethal scoring abilities, especially from long range. Actually, Curry is averaging career-highs in points per game, with 23.5 and assists with 9.2. This will be his first All-Star appearance.

Blake Griffin LA Clippers

Griffin

Blake Griffin will make his fourth straight All-Star appearance and this time he will be a starter. Griffin has really taken the Los Angeles Clippers on his shoulders this season due to the shoulder injury of Chris Paul. Griffin has been playing fantastically as of lately. He is averaging 22.6 points and 10 rebounds per game this season for the Clips, while his also shooting 52.4 percent from the floor.

Kevin Durant will of course be a starter for the Western All-Stars. His performance has skyrocketed this season, especially since Russell Westbrook went down with an injury. Durant is leading the league in scoring with 31 points per game. His buddy, Russell Westbrook will not participate in the All-Star game.

Kevin Love will complete the starting lineup for the Western All-Stars. This will be the first time Love will be starting in an All-Star game. He is the league-leader in double-doubles and he managed to steal the starting position from Dwight Howard. The fact that Dwight Howard will not start in this All-Star game was a big surprise.

The Eastern All-Stars will have a weird starting lineup, as none of the frontcourt players normally plays a position above the small forward. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade will both start for the Eastern All-Stars. LeBron’s selection comes as no surprise. He still is the best player in the world. Wade on the other hand is experiencing some injury issues as of lately but he should be ready to go for the All-Star game.

Paul George will also be a starter and that was widely expected around the NBA. George is continuing to improve his performance and he is putting up superstar-like performances.

Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving complete the starting five for the Eastern All-Stars. This will be Irving’s second straight All-Star appearance and his first start. Melo will start for the sixth time in an All-Star Game. By:
