Shrek! was a book written by William Steig in 1990. The strange tale of the ugly green ogre and the beautiful princess Fiona was welcomed by the young and the old alike. DreamWorks animated film in the same name in 2001. The movie was a spectacular success the world over and now it comes to you as a musical.

The production team had the idea for the musical as early 2002. However the Broadway production started only in 2008. The foot tapping numbers are brought to you by Jeanne Tesori. David Lindsay-Abaire wrote the lyrics for the musical.

Stephen Kramer Glickman brings your favorite green ogre alive on stage. The lovely Celia Keenan–Bolger is the exquisite and beautiful Princess Fiona. The much loved humorous sidekick Donkey will be played by Robert L Daye Jr. and Christopher Sieber will be the villain, the evil Lord Farquaad.

Shrek, who is abandoned by his family lives a solitary life in a swamp. The swamp is taken over by some folks who were banished from Lord Farquaad’s kingdom. Shrek wants his swamp back, strikes a deal with the evil Lord to get the swamp in return for rescuing Princess Fiona. On his way to the big rescue, he meets Donkey, who becomes his best friend and the adventure starts.
