The Book Of Mormon Los Angeles

Book Of Mormon

About The Book Of Mormon:The Book of Mormon is a theatrical production that is sure to be loved by some people, while offending others that are religious. But nonetheless, this religious satire on Mormonism will make any objective person laugh out loud. The music was co-created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the same two men who created the popular animated television comedy “South Park.” This musical story is about two youthful missionaries of the Mormon faith from Salt Lake City that are sent to an isolated village in the northern region of Uganda. When they arrive in Uganda, they come across a violent one-eyed warlord that is overpowering the local population with the threats of violence. The villagers lack their faith because many of them are overcome with AIDS and blame God for it. So, the missionaries have the idea that if they share their Mormon scripture with everyone then it will change their minds.

With all of the sad themes that are represented in this production, it is still portrayed in an entertaining and genuinely funny musical. Sometimes, Broadway productions try to force a laugh out of their audience. But with this production, they don’t have to force any laughter out of the audience. It is very hard to get affordable seats for this musical because they are usually all sold out. Later ticket buyers will have to go with the premium seats, which start at $299. But, at least you will have a closer seat to the live performances.

Even though there is foul language and blasphemous undertones in this play, it still has a magic to it that is as special as classics like “The King and I” or “The Sound of Music.” But since this musical touches about dark elements along with cheerful melodies, it could even be compared to Mel Brooks famous musical “The Producers.” No other Broadway show since “The Producers” has achieved so many laughs with so many dark undertones.

The Book of Mormon is great for any objective person who does not get offended by jokes that poke fun of religion or have foul language in them. For the traditional kind of Broadway attendees, they will likely be turned off by the humor in this play. It is written for a newer generation that believes in questioning faith and using graphic situations to gain a laugh. Overall, it is a play that everybody should see once because Mormonism is still a popular religion that is alive and well in America today.By:Chris Michaels.

Why You Should See Lion King At The Pantages Theater

Lion King Tickets

The Lion King

Lion King one of the biggest musicals of all time has now returned to the Los Angeles Pantages Theater till Jan 12th, 2014. The adaption of the movie you grew up with now comes to life with all the laughter, emotion, suspense and majesty of the Lion King.

Did you know that the Lion King was originally going to be called “King of the Jungle”? Once the film was completed the makers realized that Lions don’t actually live in the Jungle and decided to change the name to “The Lion King”.

Did you know that over 120 puppets are used in the musical, dowel rod puppets as well as the rich tradition of shadow puppets. The skeptical of the puppetry will truly amaze both the old and young at heart from the 26 foot high flying giraffes all the way down to the 5inch trick mouse no detail in these puppets have been left out.

This once in a lifetime musical is like none other. The animals portrayed in the Lion King Musical are actually actors in costumes using extra tools enabling their costumes to move and come to life. The actors playing the giraffes are on giant walking stilts, Mufasa and Scar’s actors use mechanical headpieces so that they may be raised and lowered which gives the audience the illusion of a cats actually lunging at each other. Timon and Pumbaa are life sized puppets that the actors fit into and Taymor has been described as one of the hardest costumes to master do to the puppets head putting such a strain on the arms, neck and back of the actor.

The amazing visuals are what truly makes the Lion King a show that you and your children will remember for ever. One of, if not the most breathtaking spectacle of animals who have been brought to life by an enormous company of national and international performers. The detailed costumes, carved masks and intricate makeup will transform the entire audience to the beautiful vistas of the African Savanna.

Review of the Book of Mormon by Matt Wilson

One of my best friends just recently returned from a trip to New York City, and he explained to me that the highlight of his tenure there was going to see a Broadway showing of the Book of Mormon. This anecdote greatly perked my interest, because usually my friend is a rigid critic of most anything he encounters. I hadn’t previously heard much about the musical besides the fact that its creator’s, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, were also the creators of the show South Park. So I decided that the next time I was in the Big Apple I’d have to definitely go see the performance.

After viewing the satire, I can safely say that the Book of Mormon is one of the most worthwhile experiences I’ve had in a long time! It was absolutely one of the most hilarious spectacles I have ever seen. The plot was surprisingly well constructed and it had me totally engaged the entire way through. The musical is a religious satire, so the pious might not be interested. However if you can accept the performance as a light-hearted comedic entertainment, then you should love the Book of Mormon.

The two lead actors were absolutely phenomenal, but truly the entire cast produced a flawless performance. You could really tell that everyone had their parts down impeccably.

My wife and I were positioned to the left side of the theatre, and for the most part we had an excellent view of everything. The theatre wasn’t gigantic, so the intimate atmosphere made the performance that much more lively.

The musical itself describes the tale of two youthful missionaries during their mission to a village in Uganda. When they arrive, they are confronted with realities that they did not expect. The musical details what occurs when the two naïve missionaries encounter these ‘realities’. While this might sound uncomedic, you wouldn’t believe the hilarity that ensues!

I certainly recommend the Book of Mormon to anyone that is looking for a great round of laughs. The story, acting, and entertainment is definitely worthwhile!

The Book of Mormon will be playing at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles from Sept 5th – Nov 25th. We have The Book of Mormon Tickets for all dates of the run.

Review of Book of Mormon the Musical

Book of Mormon

Book of Mormon

Religion is often a very touchy subject to handle. It gets even tougher when you try to do a musical about it. The Book of Mormon somehow made a double win though when it managed to satirize and praise religion at the same time. This being Matt Parker and Trey Stone’s first attempt in making a Broadway musical, I must say it is not bad at all.
If you are not a Mormon, not religious, have a sense of humor, and can laugh at crass jokes then this is definitely a must-watch. For someone who barely had an idea what Mormonism and their doctrines and beliefs are all about I was surprised that it was an educational watch for me too minus the boring lecture hours.

Admittedly the ticket was a bit pricey and obtaining them certainly wasn’t an easy task for me to accomplish but it was definitely worth it. The Book of Mormon wasn’t all about just poking fun at religion. It tells the story of two good-hearted but naïve educators who lands in a foreign land with hardly a clue of what the place was all about and how the people behaved. In the course of their adventure they get to learn valuable lessons while imparting knowledge at the same time, find themselves, and strengthen their values. What I liked best about The Book of Mormon was that it was an original play. It wasn’t based on any movie or famous story allowing me to watch the play in suspense because I had no idea how it will end.

For those who might think it is just another one of those South Park episodes and there won’t be anything new about the plot and story line then you might just be surprised at the end when you’d want to cry from laughter and from some heart-wrenching scenes too.

The Book of Mormon is a play that challenges your beliefs, open your eyes to problems being ignored in our parts of the world, while making you laugh at the silly things people do to keep them sane. The song and dance numbers are quite good. The lyrics of some of the songs will definitely be stuck in your head for a few days and do not be surprised if you catch yourself humming a line or tune, “Hasa Diga Eebowai” would be a good example. The Book of Mormon was not only funny and fun to watch but it was smartly written. Wear an adult diaper when you watch it. You might just thank the gods that you did.
