 Staples Center Parking Going to an event at the Staples Center? Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Concert events draw huge crowds over 18,000 plus. Located in the heart of Los Angeles you can get to the Staples Center from several different freeways as well as public transportation.
Staples Center Parking:
Staples Center itself has over 3000 parking spaces in parking lots which it owns as well as you can find 16000 other parking spaces within several blocks of the Staples Center owned by different parking companies. Rates and hours of operation of these other parking lots vary because they are owned by private management companies.

 World Class Venue the Staples Center With seating at just under 20,000 people, it’s quite rare for attendees of a basketball game to have a good view of the action. The design of the Staples Center makes sure that just about every seat has a good view of the floor. The Staples Center is a world-class facility and even in the cheap seats people can be is assured that they will get a fair view of the action.
In many cases this is a good thing because seating at some Lakers games and Clippers games and Kings games can be extremely expensive for some people. Getting last-minute tickets or picking up tickets in the upper rows can be the only way that some people can enjoy this great venue. Even with some of the great acts that have graced the stage at the Staples Center, such as Justin Bieber, have led to some competitive prices on tickets as well as great views even from the upper levels.
With this great view there are also some fairly steep steps which can be sort of tough to manage for concerts and large events. Although the building is accessible, it may not be wise for seniors who are ill advised to climb stairs or have troubles with balance, to sit in the upper rows. The seats are quite steep and can be quite treacherous. There is plenty of security around and an excellent medical staff on-site in the event of an emergency. If you ever find yourself lost or in trouble within the Staples Center, there is always an employee or security officer close by to ensure that you’re safe. The friendly security staff is always around to help and direct you around the facility. Taking in a show or a sporting event at the Staples Center is extremely safe as a result of this great security staff.
Prices on food and beer are a little bit expensive but there are plenty of different venues to choose from. Whether you’re in the mood for a full meal and a show or a small snack, there are plenty of venues to choose from at the Staples Center and reasonable lineups because of the amount of venues.
There looks to be some excellent VIP seating options as well which, in the form of full VIP suites. The prices for these tickets go up dramatically but it looks as though these types of seating involves getting specialized service as well as more comfortable seating arrangements with a good view of the action.
One common gripe about the Staples Center is that the parking is pretty confusing. Many people find it difficult to find parking around the Staples Center and are forced to take the bus in or even park around the venue a block or two away. Parking surrounding the venue can get quite expensive so it may be better to walk or potentially take the bus in from further out. Getting out of the Staples Center after a large show can also be quite difficult as the parking surrounding the venue is quite closed in. Do yourself a favor and at least carpool if you plan on parking close to the Staples Center.

 Downtown Los Angeles Staples Center The Staples Center is positioned in the heart of downtown Los Angles, so it is accessible from most significant freeways. It was rapidly built on an 18 month schedule at a price of roughly $300 million. While the seating differs for other tenants such as the Lakers and Clippers , the LA Kings seating potential is listed at 18,118.
The main factor this isn’t Five stars is that there are virtually no decent food choices here. But with LOS ANGELES Live just across Chick Hearn Ct., they are thankfully not too far away. As for the typical claims about this place:
Parking
Those lots with the guys waving the flags, advertising $20 and $25 parking? Those are for visitors!! The Pico Station of the Metro Blue line is ONE BLOCK from the Staples Center. And the Pico Station is ONE STATION away from the 7th/Metro station, that connects you to the Purple and Red Lines.
There isn’t a reason you must park close to Staples Center and pay the exorbitant fees. Even if you can not take the train all the way in, it’s worth finding parking closer to 7th/Metro Center and taking the train down one stop. Additionally, you’ll be outside of the cluster trying to get back on the freeway at 8th or Olympic after the show.
DRINKS
You are going to spend $9 for a beer and nearly as much for red wine. This is pretty common. You’ll find some more elaborate alcoholic options at the Harbor or Figueroa Bars found near each of the main entrances of the building.
Atmosphere
Before fans even set foot on the terrazzo floors in the arena, a rather fascinating vibe is produced from simply walking around the arena and taking in the sights at LA Live. For any given game, you’ll find crowds around the arena taking photos of the statues and trying to get their faces on many of the live tapings outside of the gates. Once the lights dim, fans will see the players walking through a makeshift castle on their way to the ice. The intros are rather long with all sorts of images being shown on the ice, green laser beams illuminating the arena, and a energetic chant of “Go Kings Go” to start off the action.
With numerous transplants in the LA area, you will find many opposing fans originally from different regions attending the games. This leads to some fantastic banter during the game and seems to engage the Kings fans even more. It creates an enjoyable ambiance from the first drop of the puck. The LA fans have had a great showing recently at the Staples Center, making a guest team game a tough ticket to come by. Of all LA-based professional sporting events, the fans here seem to be in their seats for gametime.
Service
Those individuals in the maroon jackets have been extremely effective every time I’ve needed them. On the latest visit, one guy even walked us nearly a quarter around the Center in search of some special masks that had been handed out to prior arrivals.
Lineup
Okay, any artist that performs at the Staples Center will likely be high class. We’ve also got our pro basketball and hockey teams. The Hollywood Bowl is, in my opinion, the only other venue in Los Angeles that brings in the heavy hitting headliner shows.. No, they’re not the personal shows that will allow you to get up close and personal with the performer.
You can go to the Greek, the Gibson, the Forum, the Home Depot Center, or perhaps hop next door to the Nokia Theater, but playing Staples Center is truly an achievement for any performer. We were there recently for Kaskade to not only be the first EDM artist to headline, but also to sell out, Staples Center.
Conclusion
Staples Center was the very first arena in sports to become the long term home of three professional sports teams. While the setting between a hockey game and basketball game are vastly various, the turnover rate to change one to another is rather outstanding. Appreciate the Staples Center for what it is: A Los Angeles landmark and an indelible part of the city’s history.
If you can’t stand expensive parking and costly beverages, but you love stars, basketball games, and people-watching, then I have 3 words for you: WELCOME TO LOS ANGELES.

The Los Angeles Kings could be just one win away from their FIRST ever NHL Stanley Cup win.
The Kings lost 1-2 against the Devils last night, making the New Jersey Devils the third team in the history of the NHL to change their luck from being 0-3 in a seven game finals to winning two games, ensuring game 6.
The Kings have proven that they will do everything they can to end the series once and for all tomorrow night with the home-court Staples Center advantage once again playing in their favor!
Regardless of who wins the Stanley Cup this year, NHL History will be made:
•The Los Angeles Kings are looking for their first Stanley Cup in the team’s 45-year history.
•The Devils, should they win the next two games, would become the first team in 70 years to win a Stanley Cup after being down 3-0 in the series.
The Kings would also become the first team since the Detroit Red Wings pulled it off in 1997 to win the first two games of the Stanley Cup finals on the road and then win the title.
Since the 2000 playoffs, there have been 135 series played (not counting the 2012 Stanley Cup finals), according to CBS Sports. In 29 of those series, the road team won the first two games of the playoff series. In 23 of those 29 series, that road team went on to win the series and advance to the next round.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what playoff round had the most series where the road team won the first two games of the series (since 2000):
Conference Quarterfinals: 15 (those road teams won the series 10 of the 15 times)
Conference Semifinals: nine (those road teams won eight of the nine series)
Conference Finals: five (those road teams won the series each time)
The Kings are also the first road team to win the first two games of the series in each of four rounds of a playoff. The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim won the first two games of the first three rounds of the 2003 playoffs as the road team. In the finals, however, they lost Games 1 & 2 to the New Jersey Devils.
In 1949, the Toronto Maple Leafs won Games 1 and 2 as the road team in the semifinals and the Stanley Cup Finals. Whereas the Maple Leafs accomplished this feat in two rounds of the playoffs, the Kings accomplished it this year in four rounds of the playoffs.
The Kings are the 12th team to win Games 1 and 2 of the finals as the road team in a seven-game series. Of the previous 11 teams to accomplish this, nine went on to win the title. Will the Kings follow suit?

The Los Angeles Kings are on FIRE this year! The 1967 founded NHL team has never won a stanley cup and has only one other Conference Championship before this year and are just three wins away from their first Stanley Cup win ever. It was an unbelievable sports season for Los Angeles in the 2012 professional sports; both NBA teams made it to the finals and for a moment all three teams were championship contenders.
The Los Angeles Kings became the first team in the history of professional Hockey to win their first nine road games in a post-season. If they win Game 2 on Saturday at the Prudential Center versus the New Jersey Devils, the Kings will be tied for an NHL record of most road wins in a post season. It also means when they do head home to the Los Angeles Staples Center the Los Angeles Kings will be not only enjoying a home-rink advantage but will be encouraged by a 2-0 starting point.
Wednesday nights game Kings vs. Devils was an intense 60 minutes of non-stop nail biting that led the Kings to a 2-1 win that included once again overtime where the Kings stood to lose everything. However, even Devils coach said his team didn’t deserve the win against the Kings as the Devil’s only goal came from a lucky bounce off of Kings defensive Slava Voynov. The Kings have had a ferocious season with flawless transitions and quick breaks out of the box and of course star player Jonathan Quick always at the ready to make his big stops. As the basketball season winds down, the excitement heats up as another NBA Playoff season kicks off for a battle to win the national championship.
The Los Angeles Lakers may undoubtedly be one of the greatest franchises in the history of professional sports. The Lakers have made an astounding 47 playoff appearances, captured the division title 27 times, made 25 NBA Finals appearances and won the NBA championship 11 times throughout their LA Staples Center history.
The team won its first championship in 1972 thanks to the remarkable play of Wilt Chamberlain, Gail Goodrich and Jerry West. The Lakers would later enjoy their most impressive run during the 1980s, when they ascended to dynasty status by capturing the NBA championship in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988.
After a period of rebuilding, the Lakers would return as a top contender with the pairing of All-Stars Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal to capture five championships in the 2000s. The team capped off their 50th season in Los Angeles with yet another championship win in 2010, laying the groundwork for several more decades of playoff success.
Of course, some of the greatest contributors to the team’s postseason success are the stellar coaches and players who have made their mark in the history of NBA lore. Coaching greats Pat Riley, Bill Sharman and Phil Jackson have led Laker squads to several championship wins, and legends such as Chamberlain, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have sported the yellow and purple in many a playoff game.
The 2012 NBA Playoffs are scheduled to start on April 28th, 2012 with the last possible 2012 NBA Finals date scheduled for June 26th, 2012. They seeding rewards the teams that have the best record. There are some caveats; however, as a divisional winner is guaranteed to be seeded no worse than #4. The other tiebreakers that are used to determine the seeding for the 2012 NBA Playoffs.
There were six coaching changes made prior to the start of the 2011-12 NBA season. Of note is the LA Laker’s coach, Phil Jackson, heading into retirement again after failing to make the NBA finals in his final season.
Just like past years, the 2012 NBA Playoffs will feature 8 teams in each conference. Divisional winners earn automatic playoff spots and the five teams with the best records after the division champs earn the right to play in the post season. The teams are seeded based on record and matched up according to seed. For example, the #1 seed in each conference will play the #8 seed from that same conference. Each round of the playoffs consists of a best of 7 series with a total of four rounds in the tournament culminating with the 2012 NBA Championship.
The Los Angeles Lakers are overall favorite to win the 2012 NBA Championship, beside Miami Heat. These two teams are on a collision course towards meeting in the Finals which will definitely not disappoint.

A few weeks ago, on July 25th, the NFL players voted to approve a new deal just a few days after the owners approved a tentative new deal, finally putting an end to the four and a half month lock-0ut that had football fans in a panick. The recent lockout was the longest in league history.
Well, this is wonderful for our fellow football advocates, but where does that leave the NBA? Traditionally the NBA season begins the last week of October. But as we barrel towards September and there is no sign of a pre-season in sight fans and especially season ticket holders are getting worried. Though the lock-out began Friday July 1st, by the second week of the lock-out already 11% of the NBA had lost their jobs. The impact of the NBA lock-out couldn’t be predicted.
As things stand now, the NBA lockout is headed for the courts, and we don’t mean basketball courts. The owners of the NBA went on a strike nearly two weeks ago, filing an unfair labor practice lawsuit against the players in an effort to nip any chance of decertification in the butt. In spite of the bold move on owners part, many predict this will do nothing but prolong the work stoppage and that this is the NBA league’s attemt at gaining bargaining power by strong-arming the players. As for now however the Union has not decided to decertify, though fans believe it would be the best move for the players at this point. The message being sent by the owners is there will be no compromising on a hard salary cap or progress in meeting other union demands.
It seems inevitable that in spite of the owners aggressive and offensive actions, the NBA would eventually come to an agreement. But it may take some missed games (or a missed season, heck!) along with some bad publicity to end the lockout.
The NBA lockout brings up an interesting point of view- what about elderly NBA players who couldn’t dream of making what the NBA players of today are asking. For example, Bob Cousy who is now 83, retired in 1963 as one of the NBA’s highest-paid players; at $35,000 a year! For NBA stars of the past, some held several jobs to make their bills. Of course Basketball has since gained much popularity and the days of an average salary of $10,000 a year with no pension plans are far behind us. Still, some might say that the new NBA model is flawed because the popularity of the NBA has not yet caught up with it’s growth. In other words, unless your the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Boston Celtics, or the New York Knicks, you are going to more likely struggle and meeting the new NBA demands would be impossible from an owners perspective. The NBA has expanded to so many cities and the success of the majority of them is nowhere near that of Boston, Los Angeles, or New York.
One thing this lockout is proving; the popularity of Basketball has exploded and reached levels that could never have been predicted in 1963. But it seems we can all agree- let’s get this settled so we can all enjoy the game.

 Blake Griffin taking Clippers to new levels Blake Griffin set many career benchmarks for himself at the Wizards victory on last weeks Wednesday night game, 3/23. First, a triple-double. Then he ties the Clippers record for double-doubles at 55 for the season- thus far! Then he walked away with an impressive 33 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. He is on fire and everyone knows it.
If you aren’t already in the loop, Griffin won state titles all four years of High School. His list of High School Awards is impressive and in-depth to say the least. After high school Griffin was recruited to Oklahoma and earned an even more intimidating list of accolades: Naismith College Player of the Year, John Wooden Award, Adolph Rubb Trophy, Oscar Robertson Trophy, AP All American First team…. These are but the tip of the iceberg. Halfway through college Griffin was plucked by the Clippers and premiered as the 2009 NBA first pick of the first round. However, Griffin suffered a substantial knee injury just a week before what was to be his NBA debut. He subsequently sat out the entire first season.
Fast forward to the 2010-2011 season…. What we have is an NBA phenomenon not felt since Kobe first stepped onto the scene in 1996.
Kobe led his high school team to their first state Championship in 53 years. He finished his High School Career as Southeastern Pennsylvania’s All Time Leading Scorer, leaving Wilt Chamberlain and Lionel Simmons in the dust. He was the first guard in the NBA ever to be drafted straight out of high school. Upon entering the NBA Kobe was the 13th overall pick of the first round draft in the NBA. In his first year he too earned the Naismith Prep Player of the Year, like Griffin. In his second year of actively playing for the Lakers (mind you, Griffin is only technically in his first year of actively playing), Kobe Bryant was on the NBA All Rookie Second Team as well as the NBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion- both accolades shared by Griffin. Kobe was at the time the youngest Slam Dunk Champion at just 18 years old.
So let’s see what Griffin will have achieved by the end of his first year on the court. So far he has surpassed Kobe in some areas.
