The Seattle Mariners is one of the outstanding teams of the Major League Baseball, a member of the American League’s West Division. The Seattle Mariners is homed in Safeco Field which is located in the First Avenue S. of the Seattle, Washington.
The team of the Seattle Mariners was founded to join the 1977 MLB season. In 1970, as the Seattle Pilots moved to Milwaukee, plans were made to establish big time professional sports. In 1975, Seattle tried to have a team to move into the new Kingdome, which was to be completed in the year of 1976. In 1977, the Seattle was given an expansion team, which would start to play in 1977. The inaugural match of the Seattle Mariners was held in the Kingdome before an excited crowd. The Seattle Mariners tickets were sold to 57,762 supporters, and though the Mariners had a losing record of 64-98, it never stopped the team from struggling for victory. In 1982, the team of the Seattle Mariners obtained a record of 76 wins and 86 losses, and this was considered as their first step due to a number of losses during their first seasons.
In the franchise history, the Seattle Mariners had star players such as Alvin Davis, Harold Reynolds, Gaylord Perry, and as well as Mark Langston. The Seattle Mariners even hosted the 1979 All-Star Game. And though the team did not acquire winning records until 1990, the team obtained individual accomplishments, like Gaylord Perry’s 300th career win in 1982, Jim Presley's 10th inning game-winning grand slam on opening day in 1986 that came after he tied the game with a two-run homer in the ninth; cannon-blasts from the USS Mariner behind the center field wall following home runs by the home team, appearances by Morganna the kissing-bandit, and promotions such as Funny Nose Glasses Night. In addition to this, Gaylord Perry was also one of the professional players who received the Baseball Hall of Fame Award. The team of the Seattle Mariners also has Mariners Hall of Fame, which is composed of Edgar Martinez, Alvin Davis, Dave Niehaus and Jay Buhner. During the 1991 season, the Seattle Mariners successfully obtained a record of 83 wins and 79 losses. The Mariners’ player, Ken Griffey, Jr. was called to his 2nd All-Star Game and brought home the club’s first Silver Slugger Award, hitting .327 with 22 home runs and 100 RBI. In the 1995 season, the Seattle Mariners obtained a record of 79-66 and reached the top of the American League West Division. The Seattle Mariners won the opening round of the 1995 American League playoffs, defeating the New York Yankees in 3 games to 2. In the 1995 American League Division Series, the New York Yankees won the first two games but the Seattle Mariners took home the victory by winning Game 3, Game 4 and Game 5. The Seattle Mariners successfully reached the 1995 American League Championship Series, but unfortunately lost to the team of Cleveland Indians by 4 games to two. The Seattle Mariners were inspired by the 1995 season, which made the team strive for a better and greater performance.

The Seattle Mariners even won the 2001 American League Division Series against the Cleveland Indians with three games to two. But the New York Yankees defeated the Mariners once again during the 2001 American League Championship Series by four games to one.
In 2002, the Mariners made another history when Mike Cameron and Bret Boone became the first duo to hit back-to-back home runs twice in one inning.
