The Status of K-Rod
The Angels of Anaheim and Francisco Rodriguez are scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing on the 21st of February. The Angels of Anaheim had a $10 million proposal but Francisco Rodriguez aka K-Rod is asking for a $12.5 million deal.
Rodriguez has been with the Angels of Anaheim since 2002 as a relief pitcher. He has recorded 146 career saves and a 2.25 ERA in 332 games, covering 383 1/3 innings. On February 14, he is expected to be in camp when pitchers and catchers report to Tempe, Arizona.
As of the $2.5 million gap of the Angels of Anaheim and K-Rod, the arbitration date is set if nothing happens, according to Tony Reagins who is the general manager for the Angels of Anaheim.

Edwin Jackson took a two-hitter into the eighth inning and Carlos Pena homered and drove in five runs Friday night, helping the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays beat the Kansas City Royals 11-2 for their fifth straight victory.

Anaheim Angels The Angels' search for consistent offensive production has been no more obvious than at the No. 2 spot in their lineup.
Manager Mike Scioscia has tried seven different players in the spot. Through Thursday, their combined average of .236 and on-base percentage of .294 was the worst of any American League team and the 41 runs, they had scored ranked 13th in the 14-team league.
But Scioscia thinks he has at least a partial answer for the problem—first baseman Casey Kotchman. Scioscia plans to use the left-handed hitter as his No. 2 hitter against right-handed pitching. Kotchman went 2 for 4 in the spot on Tuesday and made his second start in the second spot on Friday against Jays right-hander A.J.
