Movies and Music- What a Pairing!

Music and Movies

In 2012 some incredible soundtracks came out by the top artists in the world and here's just a few to take a look at. The Hunger Games enjoyed an epic level of success in 2012. After the books sold out across the country, miss Katniss Everdeen stole the hearts of boys and men alike as her face came on the big screen. But the movie wouldn't and couldn't have been the same without the stunning soundtrack that included Arcade Fire, Civil Wars, Taylor Swift, Neko Case, Miranda Lambert, and Kid Cudi. The soundtrack was compiled by the same award-winning producer T-Bone Burnett, who put together the brilliant music of O' Brother Where Art Though. And audiences were nailed to their seats in the opening sequence of Skyfall when Adele's deep, silky voice took over the screen while incredible graphics seemed to bend to the whim of every nuance of her voice. The effect was mesmerizing.

By far one of the hottest soundtracks of 2012 included Looper. The soundtrack was exciting, raw, carnal even at times as non-musical sounds were turned into instruments to drive the film. In 2012 the Dark Knight also came out and who would put it past Christopher Nolan to ensure that his music was groundbreaking. With Tom Hardy stealing every scene, and with only a single glance of his face throughout the film, the score created by Hans Zimmer was unreal. It included music and remixes from The Crystal Method, Paul van Dyk, and was also collaborated by James Newton Howard and was so good it won the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. Another insane soundtrack that rocked 2012 was Arbitrage with Richard Gere. The world of New York's financial kings holds audiences spellbound as the remix's by Cliff Martinez take you on a journey of power, money, hunger, greed, deceit and more. Cliff Martinez is definitely the "Artist to Watch" this year along with other collaborators on the film such as Port St. Willow.
